Disgusting Ads

Moderators: I understand the need for advertising to support the site but some of the ads that appear on my feed are disgusting and have anything to do with this forum. I do not need to see ads about male enhancements or risque ads for clothing while visiting this forum. Please do what you can to eliminate these ads.

Thank you

Lighten up,Lucille. If you don't like them, don't look at them.

Truth to tell,I have been on this board for years, and honestly don't even remember seeing anything like male enhancement ads. Then again,I am here for the cars and trucks, and just ignore the ads. It's not hard to do. Try it.

Ok,out of curiousity,I just checked the ads I got when I logged on a few minutes ago. They are all ads for shoes, and I was doing a search for shoes on Amazon a few days ago. Amazon, like other retailers, sell your search info with other companies,so it SEEMS like there MAY be someone with access to your computer doing searches for things you don't approve of.

Truth to tell,I am more than a little steamed at Amazon for exposing me to these other retailers.

The content of those ads have nothing to do with this web site. They are linked to the browsing history of your computer when you sign in. Someone in his house has been visiting porn sites,so he is getting porn site ads.

i SUSPECT that many of he web sites that are popular that we all visit sell our searches,and/or the ads we respond to,and then sell them on the open market to anyone that wants to buy them.

My prime suspect at first was Amazon, but AFAIK,Amazon doesn't sell or rent porn,so now I suspect it is pretty much all the providers that are selling the URL's we all visit. Not much that can be done about it AFAIK. Even if you delete your browsing history after every web session, they still have a list of the web sites you visited that day if they want to buy them.

rallyace, I agree with you.  Thank you for taking the time to make it known so the moderators can (hopefully) do something about it!

What you see for advertisements is totally linked to your browser history. And if you happen to use the same browser on your phone, then you will likely see that content reflected as well. Delete your browser history log out of the site and log back in. I bet you’ll see different banner ads.

From my experience, if they figure out that you are "of a certain age" they will target you with that sort of trash, w/o any personal past history of ever having searched on any of that stuff.  And let's face it, there exists a stereotype of guys who are interested in old cars (and especially hotrods or ratrods), and it goes along those lines.

Almost every site including this one is showing me string patio lights. I had a solar one for about 10 years that just went T.U.  and was searching for a replacement. On a related topic is all the weird and disgusting tv shows and movies now a days. I used to look at the synopsis first to see if I would want to watch a movie or show, now I look at the date made. Anything after 2015 gets a closer look with all the woke and fringe crap that hollyweird thinks is the norm. My new favorite channels are MeTv and retro tv. The problem with todays movies and shows is no believable story. The problem with ads is to many pharma commercials and ads.

Matter of fact saw a post on rumble they are making a WW1 movie about a gay G.I. They can make it if they want to, but it's like they are righting histories wrongs by over shadowing history with trivial matters to appease the small minority that is sqawking the loudest. Think Ghostbusters 2016.

Sorry for the rant, just a little worked up due to the cold weather. Nothing to watch and to cool for me to get outside.

As long as we're talking about strange advertisements, my wife found this somewhere on the internet. I thought it was too good to keep to myself. And it brings this thread back on topic! ?FB_IMG_1635552464422.jpg.c7e7da1f9fc850d74ac9c244e9f831ec.jpg

It made me think of the previous owner of my Meadowbrook. Decades ago he had a 50 Coronet that was giving him troubles to the point of absolute frustration so he ran it across some train tracks in revenge. It handled the abuse so well, it turned his attitude around and he fell in love with the car. He later sold the car and regretted it. Years went by and he always wanted another 50 Dodge. He eventually found, purchased and fixed up the Meadowbrook that I now own.

You can also delete your Google search history which is separate from your browser history. Just type in “google history” in your top search line and it will come up. And for the computer you are searching on. Then delete as required to eliminate issues. I do it just in a  faint attempt to pretend I still have some semblance of privacy on the net.
