So I added four feet in width to that and put a floor across the entire end of the building for a 12' x 4' storage loft. With 10' walls and open ceiling, that makes for a very nice storage "room". To access, I will put a stair way up the end of the building. Ladders are not good for me. I nearly fell putting up that 16' x 1' x 1" board across the top. It still needs some trim and adjustments but I now know what I have to work with. I thought the Phoenix needed a 'patina' room. LOL . Show your caves. About 780 square feet (22' X 36') and room for 4 cars although a bit of a tight fit. Presently two cars down by the big door and the current project at the other end. Not ideal but a lot better than many people have. Garage is heated so I can enjoy winters to some degree. Last picture shows the present state of the 1951 Dodge D39 business coupe. New floors welded in. Front end rebuild just about completed. Rear axle close to done. Frame and underside of body cleaned and painted. Same helpers as at the start! BobT-47P15 Posted December 27, 2014 Report Share Posted December 27, 2014 (edited) After the big tornado in 2011 forced us to rebuild, we decided to have a detached garage for the Plymouth and to store my related "valuable junk" instead of the storage sheds we had earlier. It's about 24 x 32 with 10 foot ceilings. Installed some nice metal shelves purchased at Sam's Club.....had a small workbench built by our contractor. Also have a small fridge and one shelf of music items so I can play my old cassette tapes or CDs. Also have some storage in the attic, via a pull down ladder. Heat and a/c also. Looks spacious in early pics. What with the addition of some lawn mowers, garden carts, lawn furniture and other assorted stuff......not much space left now. It's 24X36 with a full basement underneath. The basement is storage only for the boat, lawn mower, snow blower, big air compressor, leaf vacuum etc. Upstairs is heated and is workshop only, and parking for the truck and motorcycle. The Mancave now has a PC with wireless internet and my favorite retro video games. The sound system was a bit weak though. As metal buildings go, I was favorably impressed. And jealous. I don't have enough space for something that big. We got to play with the 'Burban and the Dodge truck and the computer, and eat cheeseburgers at the Foster Freeze, which my wife always calls "the Frosty Freeze". Their high impact colors were identical but called different names between Dodge and Plymouth. the Dart is either Green Go or Sublime, a lighter and brighter shade of green. I am truly fortunate with those possessions alone and I never forget that.
