Looks like i get to  be the first report from Tim's BBQ.

Great fun and people!

Good turn out i'd guess amost doulble the attendance from last year and man was Tim busy but stiil a great host.

Many more posts and pictures to follow I'm sure. Many were taken I know!

Easy trip from Modesto to Clements except for one minor problem with Pflamings new truck 1 block from my house as we were just getting started. Easy fix. Paul can tell about it if inclined.  good to meet Mark and his 47 Ply. coupe for the drive..

Best to ya,

Doug

To anyone who is still up, my horse is back in the stable. Stalled the engine in Modesto, Doug gave me a push and all was temporariyl OK. But the truck wouldn't start to go home, some good mechanics, headed up by Merle of Wisconsin,  noted that somehow I missed putting on a wire from the ammeter to the regulator . . . that fixed, some oil in a sometime noisy generator and Mark Hammond and I were off for home.

Had a great day. I met "MOM". Worth the whole trip.!

Thank you Tim, Bob Koch, and others. It was a special day.

looks like a blast!  Was there a hawk demo?  Some nice looking vehicles there, owners.....maybe not so much!  :P

maybe someday I'll be able to make the trip like Merle!

Mark Hammond drove his cherry '47 plymouth coupe with a small V8 and overdrive, I followed him in my B3B with flathead 6 and three on the tree. We filled up side by side in Livingston then again in Ripon. He took 7.1 gal, I took 7.3. That figures out to about 14 MPH.  We drove steady at 65 mph.

With new Steele door seals, all holes sealed off in the firewall my truck was quite quiet. The 6 cly has it drone but it's not irritating. Nevertheless, I will change to 12 volt, then an electric fan and over drive. Maybe that will get me up to 16+ which would not be too bad considering.

Thanks Mark for being my wingman.

Wow! I knew I was going to be missing out on something really special........and now I am really bummed out.

What an amazing group of trucks. I am just blown away. I'll be there next time if I have to push my truck.

Bravo Tim!

Jeff

Paul are you still running on a Jerry can?

Only as a reserve tank. But I have a flask in my jacket filled with SANKA! Maybe your too young to know what that is!

Update: The last country miles my lights barely showed the way: Got to get 12 volt system I thought, this morning the battery was DEAD. I must have just made it home. The good news was that there was no antifreeze on the floor and the radiator was full.

BUT I am tired today. my body is not accustumed to 7 hrs of truck driving.

It's now the morning after. All is calm at the moment. I should probably wait to get home to type this out on a real key board, but as I sit here with my iPhone I figured "what the heck", so please ignore the typos.

What a great day!!! I've said many times that every time I've had the chance to meet a forum member it was a great experience. Now, imagine meeting a couple dozen of them all in one day. INCREDIBLE! I can tell you all that this trip has been worth every penny so far. It'll probably close to $800 total for the plane ticket, rental car, and parking at the MKE airport, but it is money well spent. If I break it down it is less than $1 per minute in fun factor. For all of you other Midwesterners, you guys from the Heartland, East Coasters, and etc., I highly re come d that you start saving your pennies right now so that you can make the trip next at least once. You will not be sorry. Now more than ever I want to make the trek with my truck.

I've had a blast. Tim is the ultimate host. And with Bud and Keven also staying here at the Estrada Ranch Inn, we've had a couple of great BS sessions around the campfire each night. Again, it was great to meet everyone yesterday. And tinkering with Paul's truck to help him get home was icing on the cake. I hope you get it all straightened out Paul. You've come a long way with it.

I've never posted on the truck side, but had to jump in to say a hearty thanks for the truck group allowing a few interlopers from the car side to attend.  I had one hell of a fun time, and was extremely surprised when the truck crowd gave me both the best modified engine and the best L6 awards!  I will definitely be looking forward to attending next year's event!

Marty I went back to the picture site and couldn't find a single picture of your award winning Flathead. Your car but not the engine. Care to share one or two.

Anyway congrats on the awards, sure looks like everyone had a good time.

Which one, Ed? There were two. The one with the nicer paint belongs to Jerry Roberts (I think I got the name right) and the other one was driven down from Seattle. I don't remember his name

This was by far the best one yet, although I've had fun at all.  Great job Tim!  I can hardly wait for next year.  Maybe Merle will drive out... ;)   I tried to post a few photos, but they were too large.

Jim,  You should be able to add them to the pictures I posted on flickr.  Look for an upload button near the top right.

I am not gay, but I have a total man crush on Tim.  The Dude Hunts with a Hawk, owns "garage majal", and races mopars.  He throws one heck of a BBQ as well.

I love you man.

Merle the green one is a 41 plymouth. I wanna know about the multi color looking one. Sounds like Marshall owns it. Is he a member here? If so whats his screen name?
