Dan Hiebert Posted January 3, 2020 Report Posted January 3, 2020 (edited) Here's Ollie, a Norwegian Forest Cat, and an A-1 mouser, on daily rodent patrol / work inspection. He's the reason I don't have much of a mouse problem. Friendly as they come, just doesn't like to be picked up and held for more than 10 seconds or so...or else... ggdad1951 Posted January 3, 2020 Report Posted January 3, 2020 My shop kitty let US move in! She's an ex-feral the PO of the property kept a mouser. Needless to say, I've spoiled her rotten. She keeps the trucks inside and outside of the shop clear of vermin and keeps me company when I need a break. In great shape for being 16. 2 Quote

I appreciate that gophers have their place in the food chain and I am therefore reluctant to use poison to control them.In southern Alberta they are called, "Richardson Ground Squirrels" and they do present a problem for farmers and ranchers.I have an acre on an industrial lot where I built a shop.Because the property offers limited access to some natural predators,(Coyote,Fox and Badgers),with having a perimeter chain link fence, and as hawks and feral cats weren't quite up to the job, I resorted to using traps. The first year I trapped fifty of the cute little buggers on my property.Since then the feral cats and hawks have been doing a pretty good job. Plymouthy Adams Posted January 4, 2020 Report Posted January 4, 2020 your gopher problem is similar to my squirrel problem....they are a destructive beast to yard, house and cars...I also don't believe in poisons for these critters....I devised a few traps that also protected the bird population.... plymouthcranbrook Posted January 6, 2020 Report Posted January 6, 2020 My 6 pound cat will not leave the house willingly but does try to intimidate the 55 pound Labrador puppy. She is slowly(remember, a Lab so slow describes her intellect) learning to not chase the cat. Quote
Brent B3B Posted January 11, 2020 Report Posted January 11, 2020 picked up a 4mo old kitten last Sunday. It’s Julie’s cat but I tried to name him “B3” (yeah, that didn’t go over like I hoped ?) 1 Quote
