It's definitely picking up now. Worst is supposed to be from 8PM to 2AM. We still have power but the tarp and cover I put on my Chevy truck blew off. I got soaking wet trying to reposition it. I don't think it's going to stay. I have tomorrow off, so if we keep our electricity, I'll watch Monday Night Football. We're supposed to get gusts up to 70 MPH tonight.

Here in Key West, Florida the skies are clear, light breeze, but a bit nippy at 65 degrees. I checked the east, west, north, and southern coast's and the weather is the same on all fronts here.

Looks like a very big storm hitting a very densely populated part of the country. I do hope that everyone, not just people on this forum, come through okay.

I notice on a different forum that some people consider a loaded firearm as part of their required preparedness. I'd personally pass on that in favor of first aid supplies and tools for helping neighbors dig out of whatever mess the storm leaves. But that does lead to a "photo of the day" that was passed to me and I'd like to pass on: Here are some people that legitimately have firearms during this store. Bless them.

Just saw some pictures of Atlantic City and it is not looking good for this town and the entire coastlien south of AC.

The shoreline of NJ just took a major hit tonight. Lights have flickered several times here in Valley Forge PA.

This is a real slow moving storm. Best wishes to everyone in the path of this storm.

There was a hurricane hit D.C. several years ago, don't remember exactly when or which one. The Old Guard was advised (I don't think they were "ordered") to leave the Tomb of the Unknowns because it was expected to be pretty bad. They refused. Soldiers like these make our Country what it is.

Lot's-o-wind and rain in WNY. Many power outages, but my house kept power (so far). I didn't see any trees down on the way to work this AM, but I know many have fallen. "Upstate" isn't completely out of the woods yet, tho. We'll be getting it all day today, and some places further north through tomorrow. According to In-laws NJ got pounded (Bro-in-law had to evacuate from Bradley Beach). Hoping everyone on the eastern seaboard makes it through unscathed, and those still in the path (central NY) don't get washed away.

The worst seems to be over here in Mass. We lost power at 4pm yesterday, still no juice in the socket as of 8:30a this morning. National grids outage map shows us as having no estimated restoration time. Ce la vie...

Ruby, maybe it's time to check out that new cabin in Maine. Hang in there, we're all praying for all of you.

I lived through the 1949 Nebraska Blizzard, the "blizzard of the century". 50 mph winds for three days and nights with 30+ inches of snow. We didn't leave the house for five days, nor the ranch for six weeks! Dad strung a rope from the house to the barn in order to take care of the horses and cows. Could not see your hands.

Looks like New hampshire faired well. Although we still have an estimated 200,000 without power, the winds weren't too bad. They said winds were up at at 76mph at the coast. As said before the leaves were off most of the trees, so mainly just downed branches and some minor flooding.

I was a bit disappointed heading home from work, driving past the body shop where my '54 is last night, and seeing it parked outside next to a big old tree (was told it would be kept inside when it went in for work). Its only water, but still a bit disappointing.

I have a niece with dual CDN/US citizenship who lives and works in Manhattan and she has no power or water. Says the city took a big hit and it will be a long time until things return to normal.

We survived the storm of the century here in valley Forge PA. Lost Electric around midning and just got it back on. No damage here to report.

But the Jersey shore has been destroyed. It took a hard hit along with NYC and the eastern shore line. My heart goes out to anyone that hasa home that has been hit by the storm.

Any other updates by any members that know of anyone along the shore please let us know how they are doing and if we can provide any help as club members?

It appears that luck was on our side here at our home. One very brief power loss last night, but no probems since. The storm knocked down one large pine tree (that we were planning to remove anyway), and scattered a few things hither and yon, but other than that, everything is OK. We were well prepared for the worst, but thankfully were relatively unscathed. Looking at the news, others were not so fortunate. Hopefully, we'll not see another hurricane/storm like this one for a long time.

We weren't so lucky. Here in Buffalo the wind blew our neighbors tree over onto our garage. Thankfully nobody was hurt and the cars inside weren't damaged. I just put a new roof on the garage and finished siding both the house and the garage. I guess Sandy had other ideas.

We lost power at about 9:30 last night and were without electricity for about 12 hours. Not so bad but since the sump pumps in the basement were no longer working, the basement flooded. Spent most of today throwing stuff out and baling water. What a mess.

We just got an update from national grid, power will be restored to our home at 11:30pm on Nov 2...

I know about the power being out. About 3 or 4 years ago, we had a

big ice storm in January and another one just as bad in December. Our

electricity was off for around a week both times. Fortunately, we

had a place to stay each time.

So, tomorrow the electrician is supposed to install a whole house

generator (Generac). Probably wouldn't be much help in another

tornado....but if we get snow or ice, probably will be a deal. Runs

on natural gas--comes on automatically if needed. I had

a portable generator for about 2 years, but never had occasion to

use it. Then it got damaged in the storm (what didn't?).

The electric lines in our part of the subdivision are underground,

but the problem is someone else's tree back down the way falls

on the lines that are on the poles.

Hope everybody gets back to normal quickly as possible.

Looks like a long tough road in some areas......especially for

all those folks whose houses burned.

Lost power here at 8:30 Mon nite. Finally got it back on Tues nite at 9 pm. Lost some frozen food even after haing it in a cooler but that's about it. House and sump pump came out without a hitch. One thing ........I didn't realize how much you take for granted having electricity. I do now and really feel for those that have to go without for a week or two.

desoto1939..................I live in Pottstown and am maybe 20 mins from you. Glad to see you faired ok in the storm.

I talked to my daughter in Brooklyn last night, she said that they did not even lose power during the storm. They live in an apartment over a Deli and it fared the storm with no loss or damage. She works in Manhattan at 5th ave and 14th st and they have no power at the school where she works. There biggest concern is the subway system as they rely on it for all of their transportation. She thinks she can ride the bus if the city can run enough buses to carry all of the people until the subways are reopened.

Juat got power back here a few hours ago. Where I live wasn't hit too bad but I know a lot of people worse off than I am. Parts of Long Island are still under water and there are a lot of people sill without power. Houses and cars flooded, trees down on the houses etc. I work in Manhattan North which fared pretty well. The bridges and tunnels were shut down and have mostly reopened except for the tunnels which are flooded. There is still no power south of 34th street and most of the subways in lower Manhattan and Brooklyn South are flooded badly. Of course there is looting going on in the areas affected by the storm. MTA is just starting to get things going again. Its going to be a long process to recover. My thoughts and prayers to those affected by this storm.
