I did some work on the blue one in sweden and knew that it sold from there. Thought maybe it was yours.

Those cars are so rare-odd that two ended up across the ocean.

I've been to Pori a few times.  Last visit was we stopped and met forum member "uncle Pekka" and attended his club meeting near Kokkola if my memory is correct.  He has a nice Dodge D24 sedan. I think he lives full time in Jyvaskyla.  Next visit for us to Finland will be in 2016.

Well the Kingsbury's do seem to have a bit of an affliction for Business Coupes.

I have reaquired my "Aunt Thelma's"  1949 Plymouth Business Coupe.  I recently wrote the story about her

on my blog - http://p15-d24.com/blog/17-keeping-up-with-the-aok-boys/

I have a 1941 Plymouth Business Coupe.  My Dad's first car was a 1941  Business Coupe and I was lucky to find out a couple of years ago.

We also have a 1948 Plymouth Business Coupe, that has a super body but needs so mechanical attention.

There is a 1939 Plymouth Business Coupe literally growing in the bush which was my Grandmothers Brothers and has been there since he died in the 40's and for whatever reason it never moved.

Finally we have a Chrysler straight eight business coupe which has been in the family for quite a while.  Dual carb intake, dual exhaust and an overdrive, combined with 3:23 rear end and It will indeed fly down the road.

But of them all the 1949 Plymouth is the apple in my eye !

Tim

What no pictures of the planted 39?

Lol.. I may have to head out to the woods and take a few of it as I couldn't lay my hands on any, although I know we have some somewhere.

In the mean time I did find some pics of the "couch on wheels"

My '37 business Coupe. You could probably fit 3 on the seat if your real friendly.

Hey Lakota!  I hope you saw last summer's Laguna Beach Pageant of the Masters!  Your car was the star of the show!  Your car drove in front of the huge stadium and Humphrey Bogart got out with a revolver.  Gangsters were shooting at him and he finally got hit.  Tim Kingsbury, did you goof when you said you had a Chrysler straight 8, because those pics are of a Chrysler Windsor 6.  Nice 3 window coupe though.  I have a DeSoto.

Is not the basic car the same 6 or 8 from the cowl rearward?

Yes.. the main body shell is the same.

1947- 48  eight cylinder rear fenders are made different for the bigger 8.20 tires. 1946 NewYokers used 7.60 tires.

The Eight cylinder frame/chassis is much heavier with larger suspension and brake parts

Hi Marc -  just saw this.  The Chrysler is a New Yorker its not a Windsor  and while it thinks it is a torque-master 6 cylinder so it can have an AoK triple carb intake on her,  its a straight 8 - 323 cubic inches -  so its lucky that it has a dual carb intake !

Those gorgeous '46-'48 Chrysler business coupes, especially the straight eights, are HUGE cars. They make my '51 business coupe (mentioned earlier in Post# 12) look like a pygmy although like any business coupe, it has a big butt comparatively speaking.

A question if I may..........do those 42-48 Dodge Desoto and Chrysler 3 Window Business Coupes use the SAME door that the various 5 Window "Club" Coupes use for those three brands in the same yrs, ie, do the 1942 -48 Dodge,DeSoto & Chrysler Coupes all use the same door?(note, I know 2dr sedan doors would be different).........not ever having actually seen a 42-48 Mopar Coupe in the flesh makes it hard to make any real life comparisions........so be gentle with me......lol........Andy Douglas
