  1. Question, Has anyone tried one of this type add on assists for stock builds for a vacuum wiper assist . Unfortunately these only came on newer cars that where 12 V. A friend with a 37 Plymouth asked (vac. wiper-very stock with later flat 6, recently changed by owner and son to 12 V.)) and also a friend with a Chev. V-8 with big cam was also looking for brake assistance (big cam). Don't need to help him here but? Why not, loves old cars and had 49 and 50 ply. bus. cpes until he realized he had more cars than he could Ever finish. Anyone?? DJ
  2. Depends on where you live. Not all parts of this country are the same, I do know the OP's place of residence is so? Maybe the same, not so sure in Ca. where I live. Surprised that even a local Pick and Pull place locally had some but the ratio? DJ
  3. The one problem that the Evans radiator fluid has is it is real thin compared to water or water/antifreeze mix and prone to leaking from anywhere the water goes. Must be OK for some as often used on race cars for heat and I understand that is also non toxic for animals/environment. Maybe perfect for use in San Francisco? Leak issue aside.? Chased many leaks all over a friends P-15 until I suggested a new alum 3 row core radiator from Champion radiator ( only $20 more than the 2 row at the time) and a 16" radiator fan to replace the two small fans that only covered the lower 1/3 of the radiator at best. Why the electrics? The previous owner had added the two small ones on the original radiator and had added the Evans fluid to stop summer time overheating. Also had a added thermostatic fan controller that was adjustable for temp.. After rad. change/larger fan/ Evans replace with water/antifreeze/ used the thermostat to control temp./ remove some head studs, etc. and reseal, No more overheat /leaks and fan seldom even ran! Over kill- yes, but ready for regular desert summer use. ? Yes the motor was rebuilt and in great condition otherwise, a great driver! DJ

    Covid

My first Moderna shot was today. 12:45pm appointment at a local Rite-Aid. Only one before me who went into a vacination room for maybe 5 minutes and back out to a waiting area for the usual wait for any reaction. 45 minutes later they finally decided I had waited long enough and was finally done in 3-4 minutes. No one else was waiting after I was told to hang there waiting for the 15 minutes. Why the long wait?? ? I am not complaining to loudly though as 2 of my friends who got the shot 3-4 weeks ago via our county had to park in a multiple level park garage walk two blocks then wait in a line outside mostly for 3+ hours. I could not do that! While it was in the 40's and low 50's outside, more than I could deal with! I waited for the local pharmacies to make the shots avail. at their stores here. Part 2 shot 28 days from today. DJ
  6. Hold out for some tri-tip- ggdad1951, he does the cooking, And - drawn butter garlic shrimp over the BBQ. He IS a good cook! Do not travel that far cheap without a good fill up!! ?? DJ
  7. Many auto parts places accept used oils /filters/ antifreeze in plastic jugs at their stores in Ca. Our local garbage company will pick up at my house after calling them and schedule a pickup at my house the same day as normal garbage pickup. Last time I used the service they would pick up 6 gallons-labeled as to contents in plastic bottles.. Cannot believe as the liberal capital of Calif. has nothing for the environment.??? DJ (central Ca.)
  8. From my early forklift experience with Chrysler flathead motors the trans closest to the motor is a manual forward/reverse box that goes forward when the handle is pulled towards the motor and behind that is a 4 spd. box that the pattern is also like a normal truck but the pattern is backwards. The motor/flywheel used a Mopar Fluid drive with the clutch on the Fluid drive unit. Most likely a 11" truck clutch. Been way to many years ago but is a common style not something special or weird. If foggy remember is correct the trans is a BW T-5?? DJ
  9. Lovin' it! ? DJ
  10. I knew that You knew that bit but not sure that Chris did being new and all. He just might have figured it out also, but worth mentioning -my line of thinkin". DJ
  11. Definitely. a Chev.. One pic shows the bowtie emblem. Mid years of GM small blocks changed to what in commonly know as center bolt heads and valve covers. Me- -I know Nuthin' - honest Coronal Clink!! DJ
  12. ADD- after cutting to length you can put on One ends setup but reinstall through the wire holder then install the second end. Otherwise almost impossible to get thru holder. Just a side note, not a criticism of previous advise!? DJ
  13. Jerry, how did you currently know me so well? It's been years since the last BBQ we met at Brent's that I attended! DJ
  14. First off do you want a stock type? Do you have a core with tanks/ top and bottom/ mounting brackets that can be reused? If you are willing to buy a alum. one new that is the cheapest and do cool well. The Champion brand mentioned on this forum often has worked well on 3 differant old Plymouths that I have worked on. As far as some good radiator shops in norcal where I am at in Modesto there are two that I have dealt with here but every bigger town in the valley has at least one- Sacramento, Stockton, Modesto, Merced, etc. Depends where you live. A copper stock type recore with your used parts usually runs 4-5 hundred $$. More for 3-4 row heavier duty stups. DJ
  15. My eyes are not so great but it appears to me the the bike and boat motor have the prices and below it says a week? DJ
  16. Well my creaks are way up here, pandemic or not! Low back and hip are gone to ?? Flood level. Hope it all works out to have the BBQ! DJ
  17. I wonder if a local radiator shop would give a new aftermarket one purchased elsewhere a proper coating of the stuff they use in bulk purchases at a reasonable price.?? We still have two old school shops locally that are really nice people that just may but cannot say for sure as I left the two Champion radiator that I have installed in old Plymouths the natural finish. Worth a visit? DJ
  18. My 1950 Suburban wagon had a lot of heavy undercoating in lots of areas. I found out quickly that sandblast did almost nothing to it but stick into it. If overdone it warps panels which is Bad! Aircraft paint remover will soften it to a heavy tar like that can then be scrapped off with some effort. Where real heavy a second or third coating may be required but was by far the easiest in my experience. Also make sure to catch the mess on disposable paper, cardboard, etc. It is very sticky! It seems to be available at most auto paint stores and I believe that Summit Racing also sells this. Buy a gallon as it needs to applied fairly heavy which the only size container I ever saw, but?? DJ
  19. It may or may not lock up the rear brakes, it will slow you down and hopefully stop a crash if in decent condition and adjustments. JMO DJ
  20. To some cheaply is quite relative to their location, long relation with a machine shop , and their own finances. I knew a local machine shop owner from where I worked but even with that as a favor he would do anything at all past a look for less than $40 minimum. Small $$ but that was for drilling 4 small, and threading holes accurately. That was his favor. Most do nothing for less than $100. I understand a experienced machinist employee does not come cheap, not the machines, maintenance of a place, rents, etc. But what is cheap? No offense but while I certainly do appreciate your info's and what you do for the Mopar brand. Not being a downer I hope ,but? DJ
  21. Is that the truck with a older Hemi getting the T-5? DJ
  22. Nothing wrong with a lope on a shovelhead but not so much on a stock flathead Mopar. Something needs adjustments and/or repair. Best of this is when you get it correct, it will be rewarding when a stick shift car will idle at 450 rpms!. Quiet!! ? The semi autos require a bit higher rpms but not too much. DJ
  23. The Bolt in Mopar R-10's are numbered R-10 G-1. I believe some R-11 were built also but seems most were for Fords and carried the ford letter after but not a G . Other brands carry the R-10 but the Letter after tell the brands for which they were made by BW. For more direct to the brand fitments. Main box and bolt patterns match their original make brand bolt patterns and do not interchange, sorry! They do not mix and match. DJ
  24. Now that is a trophy wife for sure, a real keeper! ? ? DJ
  25. About time to use PM to ask such on the forum? Jus askin', DJ
