The pins that have the arrows are the eccentrics that move the heel of the shoe. the upper half moon shaped item control the toe movement on the upper end of the brake shoe. It does not matter if you have a double wheel cylinder the eccentrics act the same way. Rich Hartung Desoto1939@aol.com.

some of the old timers would use the old style wooden clip-on clothes pin and attach them to the fuel line. They have said that this worked back then so I guess it should still work now. They need to be the wooden style not the Plastic clip-on clothesline pins. Rich Hartung

***The ol' rear engine mount problem***
desoto1939 replied to autoexpressionist.com's topic in P15-D24 Forum
Or also use a star washer that has the serrations to cut into the flat waster on both top and bottom but the castle nut with a cotter pin is a great idea also. Rich hartung -
Since you are not using a timing light and just want to time via the way the engine sounds then just loosen the bolt and rotate in either direction until you get the desired result you want or desire. Rich Hartung

The 38 and 39 used the same type of single wheel cylinder. they are called step downs because of the two different size internal pistons. The cylinder is mounted at the top of the backing plate. So when you moved the eceentric pins on the bottom then you took bottom of the linings out of adjustment. Best if you can get the lining arced with the Ammco safe arcing machine. But you now will need the Ammco brake gage 1750 to get the shoes in the proper position in relation to the drum fron the front and rear shoes on each wheel. You could do the job without the tool but having the tool makes the job go faster and you will have a better pedal. You have the same setup as my 1939 Desoto so this is how I know what has happened. You might need the Ammco brake tool to get the proper setup with the Lockheed brake system. I have the tool contact me and rent it out to people that need it.. Did you move any of the bottom eccentric pins. You might have to do a major brake adjustment and the Ammco tool makes it much easier to get the brake shoes properly adjusted Rich Hartung Desoto1939@aol.com cell 484-431-8157

This what I would do. Take a fron drum to any good brake repair center and have them mic the drum. So if your drum for an example should be a 10 inch drum then have them measure with a brake drum micrometer the exact inside diameter of the drum. So if it is a 10 inch drum and it mic's to 10 and 60 over then you might not beable to shave any more off the drum and it might be at its max diameter. so if under the the 60 ver say 40 then you are still good to go and could take a skim slice of the drum to make it a perfect round. TOM the caster camber miller wrench c611 I think is 1 7/16 inch wrench. The snapon wrench and caber caster wrenchs all come in various sizes. I have a set of the crow-feet adapter that you could have borrowed. Rich Hartung Desoto1939@aol.com

James: I have a large collection Of factory Miller Tools ping me and we can talk about pricing. AMMCO 1750 Brake gage value at 600 Miller MT19 Tool with 7 adapterset that is the factory equal to the Ammco gage last time went for $1000 on ebay. so your tool do have value because they are no longer made. Point to note that If you have a Chrysler or Desoto the 5 lug puller needs the 6th hole so that the mounting peg can com ethrough the 6th hole. Because Chrysler/Desoto used lug bolts and not lug nuts. On ply/Dod they used lug nuts with the thread studs so no need for the 6th hole. I have a 6 hole wheel puller and this is what I use because it applies equal pressure on the entire drum and not just at 3 points like the 3 legged puller. Is the wheel puller a factory miller tool or after market. $120 is nota bad price if that has the screw and arm. Rich Hartung Desoto1939

No just screw the hydraulic switch into the break block where all the brake lines join up. Put the block of wood under the brake pedal as I said before and no fluid will be lost. Rich Hartung

Looks to be from dry rot and this could be from having the car parked on the dirt floor Get a wood floor and then put the rung under each tire to stop the moisture from getting to the tires. The bia ply and ties are not cheap anymore. So protect what you get. Rich Hartung

More information is need as to what you mean by not running right. Is the temp on the temp gauge getting to the max or what. Might need to hav ethe radiator cleaned and rodded and oreve the engine block flushed or a new water distribution tube. Is you water pump leaking do you have a thermostat installed in the block? Is the thermostat clogged or closed or broken. rich Hartung

The engine block color will be a silver and the paint needs to be high temp paint. The eastwood manifold paint is a gray color and has to be applied when the engine is cold and then it cures after running the engine. As stated above read the tech section and it will provide you with some guidance on the various other parts that were painted black. Also basically you can pant it any color you want but if you are going for judging then you need to have the correct colors on the proper components. Rich Hartung Desoto1939@aol.com

If you change to Dot 5 Silcone then you will need to flush the entire braking system with denatured alcohol. Then have to rebuild allthe rubber parts in the wheel cylinders, new hoses front and rear and also rebuild the master cyclinder. The entire system has to be clear of any and all od brake fluid. airtex fuel pumps on a cranbrook engine
desoto1939 replied to bluefoxamazone's topic in P15-D24 Forum
I would just use a toggle switch to run the pump. This way you can control when the pump is no of off. Also remember that you have positive ground on your car. So on the pump the positive wire will go the frame and the negative wire on the pump will go to the power side to run the pump. These are a pusher pump so the closer to the gas tank the better. Most guys use these as primer pumps. Rich Hartung Desoto1939@aol.com
