Hi Guys and gals,

I've recently bartered myself into a 1940 Chrysler New Yorker.

The paint and interior have been redone at some point, and they are still in good condition. Transmission has been rebuilt and the fuel tank was replaced with a stainless one.

We are going to pull the motor for our local race shop to rebuild soon. I have to go through the brakes and replace the tires and she should be a great driver. The wiring needs gone through too, but that's my specialty.

Just wanted to say hi. No questions at this point, but I have been lurking the site and gaining some knowledge before diving into this project.

Thanks,

Chris

Welcome. Nice looking car! Great forum with great people willing to share knowledge. Being a New Yorker, does it have a straight 8 or 6?

It's an 8.

Yes, I kinda figured it would be. Straight 8 is a nice engine but it is much harder to get engine parts. Hopefully, you have searched out some parts already as virtually everything is different to the straight 6. Looking forward to engine updates and we all love pictures!!

Welcome!  Great Forum with lots of knowledgeable folks, you won't regret visiting here.  Hamburg, eh?  I lived in NJ for a couple years between the Army and the Border Patrol.  I bow hunted in Waywayanda State Park.  My hunting buddy and I stopped for breakfast in Hamburg a couple times, don't remember the diner's name (that was about 40 years ago).  Really pretty area you live in.  I was living in Jersey City and didn't know for about half a year before I started hunting that NJ actually had pretty countryside.

That's why I got a trike. Never have to put your feet down.

Then I find out they're not allowed in the slow races!

Sorry we got off topic. Welcome, Coyle. You will love this site.

I had a 1969 Triumph, yeah it was a chopper with a hard tail frame & a 750 Honda font end, wide buckhorn bars ... That bike was so well balanced was almost like cheating.

Could actually stop for several seconds and just rotate the bars to keep balance and then creep forward .... I opted out of them and let the big heavy Harley's play.

Welcome to the site @Coyle996 and wish you well with your projects.

You gotta get 'em up on 2 wheels to do the slow race. ?

I've won a slow race or two on my motorcycle. Takes a lot of practice and clutch control.
