pflaming Posted February 10, 2019 Report Posted February 10, 2019 It looks to me to be a snow blower attachment to a grain combine which would be easy to do. Quote
Dan Hiebert Posted February 11, 2019 Report Posted February 11, 2019 (edited) Maine DOT has at least a couple older versions of those in northern Maine. I'm told the USAF gave some to the State to help keep the roads clear for access to the various Air Force bases that used to be here. (One of them, Loring, about 60 miles north of here was supposedly the largest SAC base in the US.) Then the State got some more from surplus when the bases closed. MDOT uses them to help clear drifts, and they're pretty awesome to watch in action. When I was doing some research before moving here, I explored a little in Google Earth, saw this in Houlton, and casually wondered what I was getting into... Here she is on one of my favorite motorcycles. Gotta give her credit, not many ladies ever rode a Guzzi as easily as she seems to.. Even if she did kinda goof up when she got off it.. Quote

MackTheFinger Posted February 26, 2019 Report Posted February 26, 2019 I like Triumph choppers. Here's one from my own two hands. Built about '78, pic was pre-'82. I still have it but it has different paint, tank, and forks now.. 1 Quote

MackTheFinger Posted March 4, 2019 Report Posted March 4, 2019 (edited) Hope this works.. It's pic of the gas station I worked at in high school. This picture was taken before I worked there. It was a Gulf station when I started. Still had a gravel lot out front, though. Crulus, the man in the pic; built a new Sinclair gas station right behind this one and was still operating it when I worked at this one. I got paid $1.00 per hour, worked 20 hours a week, gas was about .30 a gallon, $1.00 a carload at the drive-in, 20 cent burgers, LOTS of good looking girls, a fully stocked machine in the restroom... Man, I had a GREAT time!! ? Edited March 4, 2019 by MackTheFinger 1 Quote

Plymouthy Adams Posted March 5, 2019 Report Posted March 5, 2019 Tom T. Hall said it best.... Back when gas was thirty cents a gallon And love was only sixty cents away. 1 Quote

We lived through the best and we'll never see the like again.. I'm happy to have those times to look back on. That old service station building was still there last time I was through there 12-15 years ago but it hasn't been in operation for at least 35 years. I need to go by there sometime before it's gone. Plymouthy Adams Posted March 5, 2019 Report Posted March 5, 2019 Another good one from the past...when the fire goes out.... Thank god and Greyhound she's gone.... Quote
MackTheFinger Posted March 5, 2019 Report Posted March 5, 2019 Those were some good songs.. There was an alternate version of "Running Bear" I liked, too.. "Running bare, through the bushes, mosquitoes playin' a tune on me.." Brings back memories.... Like Charlene Darling said, "That one always makes me cry." ? Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted March 8, 2019 Report Posted March 8, 2019 Ah..I see he is there to restock....and yes...back in the day these guys did carry a lesser brand tool for sales also......but that was circa '75...they may be drawn and quartered for that now... Quote
