pflaming Posted December 14, 2013 Report Posted December 14, 2013 It appears that many of you will be shoveling snow today. How heavy is the snow in your area? Quote
Merle Coggins Posted December 14, 2013 Report Posted December 14, 2013 Looks like only an inch or two so far this morning. I haven't been out there yet to shovel it off. Last night they were predicting up to 5" by this afternoon for my area. Nothing serious. That won't even slow us down much. Merle Quote
oldodge41 Posted December 14, 2013 Report Posted December 14, 2013 Nothing here yet. Calling for 4 to 8". Quote
casper50 Posted December 14, 2013 Report Posted December 14, 2013 We got 8" yesterday. Maybe more today. Quote
pflaming Posted December 14, 2013 Author Report Posted December 14, 2013 Our two oldest kids were 13 and 9 when we moved from Omaha to Central California. When they would see snow storms back east on the news they would say, "Those lucky kids, get to play in the snow". Where are they today?, Sherri is in Indianapolis, Glenn is in Maine. Hard to get the snow out of kids. Be careful shoveling if you are over 60 years old. We will be at 50+ here today. I find it interesting to read about the diversity of climates within which the forum members live. Quote
52b3b Joe Posted December 14, 2013 Report Posted December 14, 2013 We are expecting 8" today. We have 2-3" already and its going to stop around 11 PM tonight. I have a busy day so lets hope nothing gets canceled! Quote
Oldguy48 Posted December 14, 2013 Report Posted December 14, 2013 Nothing yet, but the forecasters are predicting 5 or 6 inches for Bloomsburg, PA. Quote
greg g Posted December 14, 2013 Report Posted December 14, 2013 We could get a double whammy today based on how the wind blows. Lake effect off Erie during the day, then off Ontario as the wind shifts more to the NW. So far just a dusting overnight. But the weather guy said ? to 14 by tomorrow. We are in a hole in the weather right now. Quote
DCurrent Posted December 14, 2013 Report Posted December 14, 2013 We are expecting 5-8 " today. I'd say we have 4" now. The wife planned a family get together and she is bummed. Not sure if she should cancel. Well the snow just picked up and I haven't seen a snow plow yet today. Quote
Niel Hoback Posted December 14, 2013 Report Posted December 14, 2013 About 4" so far today, but its warmed up to 28 so it won't be bad shoveling. Quote
rtlsnakedaddy Posted December 14, 2013 Report Posted December 14, 2013 Predicting 12-14" starting in a few hours. Should be an interesting drive home as I work till about 12pm tonight. Only a light dusting on the ground now. Quote
JerseyHarold Posted December 14, 2013 Report Posted December 14, 2013 Should be 2-4" by tonight at the Jersey Shore. We're about 10 miles inland from the ocean. It just started flurrying here. The temperatues are supposed to rise overnight, should be rain by tomorrow. Quote
Mike Petersen Posted December 14, 2013 Report Posted December 14, 2013 (edited) 1.5 HR.away in local mountains I could go to cabin and go skiing 5" on old base. But today headed off to watch a baseball game my sons college. Edited December 14, 2013 by Mike Petersen Quote
Merle Coggins Posted December 14, 2013 Report Posted December 14, 2013 Pretty much done here now. I don't think we got over 3". Easy shoveling as it was light fluffy snow. Good luck to those who are getting more. Merle Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted December 14, 2013 Report Posted December 14, 2013 (edited) Well it is not snowing but it is comfortably warm, t-shirt weather but we have been getting our share of steady rain...been changing fixtures (incandescent base to duplex outlet) in the barn to allow better lighting...remarkable improvement...only 6 more bays to do on the north wall, purchased 30 each 2 x 4 foot 4 tube fixtures for re-lamping my shop and barn... austinsailor Posted December 15, 2013 Report Posted December 15, 2013 (edited) We got about 3", barely enough to warrant plowing. But since it was slushy and going to freeze later today, I figured I should clean the lots while I could. Wasn't watching close enough, probably thinking about old MOPARs instead of plowing. BigDaddyO Posted December 15, 2013 Report Posted December 15, 2013 We have about 30.25 inches...oh wait. That's the barometric pressure. There's about 6 inches of light, fluffy snow out there but it's still snowing at 9:45 pm. It sure is cold though. Quote
Mark D Posted December 15, 2013 Report Posted December 15, 2013 Been snowing here in central mass since 2pm. So far we've got four inches on the ground. Weatherman says 8-12 is the goal, with snow ending mid day tomorrow. Quote
52b3b Joe Posted December 15, 2013 Report Posted December 15, 2013 Its all done here, we got 8-9" which is the most we've has in a while. It was a lot of fun to go out and drive in it! Quote
BigDaddyO Posted December 15, 2013 Report Posted December 15, 2013 We ended up with about a foot of snow and it is no longer "light, fluffy snow". It gets heavier with every shovel full. Quote
Grdpa's 50 Dodge Posted December 15, 2013 Report Posted December 15, 2013 I got the best snow present of all,,,,NONE. I like that flavor Quote
pipebomb Posted December 16, 2013 Report Posted December 16, 2013 we have gotten all of this snow in the last week and a half. Quote
