greg g Posted January 1, 2013 Report Posted January 1, 2013 I thought ethanol wasn't good for our old cars, also thought it was a relatively new concept??? Quote

Don Coatney Posted January 1, 2013 Report Posted January 1, 2013 The Modish Bldg. Texaco gas station. How did they get those cars up there????????????? And why are they up there?? I would assume it is a car elevator system. It appears that car parking in NYC has always been in demand. Quote
randroid Posted January 1, 2013 Report Posted January 1, 2013 Greg, Maybe that's when they first found fault with ethanol? -Randy Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted January 1, 2013 Report Posted January 1, 2013 There are assorted old Mopars in many of those scenes. Thanx Jon. Quote
Phil Martin Posted January 1, 2013 Report Posted January 1, 2013 How about the one that gave 5lbs of sugar with fillup Quote
TodFitch Posted January 2, 2013 Report Posted January 2, 2013 Looks like the Chrysler Plymouth Approve Service sign I picked up decades ago was in use by 1937. Close enough for the era of my car. I'd been guessing it was a bit newer than that. Quote
JIPJOBXX Posted January 2, 2013 Author Report Posted January 2, 2013 (edited) Check out the old Blue Chip Stamps advertizement on top of the service station. Do you remember those and also Green Chip Stamps. Edited January 2, 2013 by JIPJOBXX x Quote
Dan Hiebert Posted January 2, 2013 Report Posted January 2, 2013 Check out the old Blue Chip Stamps advertizement on top of the service station. Do you remember those and also Green Chip Stamps. I remember my mother collecting S&H Green Stamps, and even going to an S&H store to redeem them. That was in Dallas, TX in the mid-late 60's. I have an old "S&H Green Stamps-We Give Them" advertisement that sat on the little shelf on the back side of the old cash registers. Quote
pflaming Posted January 2, 2013 Report Posted January 2, 2013 Green Stamps had a 5" x 3" book into which the stamps were glued, so many dollars of gas, so many green stamps. When the pages of the book were full it was exchanged for items in the "Green Stamp Catalogue" or for food. I do not think the books could be exchanged for cash. Today's coupons are the equivalent of the green stanps. Quote
Don Coatney Posted January 2, 2013 Report Posted January 2, 2013 TOP VALUE stamps S&H GREEN stamps. Quote
greg g Posted January 3, 2013 Report Posted January 3, 2013 I have some Plaid Stamps that were in the glove box of the 46 and some King Korn stamps also. My first bike was a S&H Green stamp acquisition. Quote

Niel Hoback Posted January 3, 2013 Report Posted January 3, 2013 Not hard to figure that one out, eh? Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted January 3, 2013 Report Posted January 3, 2013 We gave S & H Green Stamps at our family's clothing store back in the 50s and 60s. I still have a few books in my collection of vintage what-nots. Quote

I had to do a double take...while watching an episode of Law and Order there in the background was this same system of parking cars loaded with modern vehicles.. Quote
