What model to choose...what a rough life

So I've potentially got the chance to buy my choice of vehicle from an old collector. Before I express which my favorite is I'd like to hear some opinions of what you'd all choose and why, you'd choose a specific model. And for arguments sake let's say they are all in the same original physical condition.

..and the models are....drumroll....

1947 D24 with all the trimmings

1940 2 door coupe

1940 4 door sedan

1937 4 door touring sedan

1941 2 door 3 window business coupe "Luxury Liner"

1940 desoto 2 door

1953 coronet v8 royal custom

1963 Custom 880

1937 MC pickup

1948 B-1-B

Thanks and looking forward to you all's rationale!

DeSotos are few and far between at shows and cruise ins, and always bring a lot of attention. They have a nice grille design also, and the 2 doors are also a fairly uncommon body style.

I agree especially if you intend to keep the car stock.

1942 cars are somewhat rare and while business coupes are not rare, they are unusual. I like the business coupe, and you would certainly get a lot of attention. .. No one has asked yet, so I will. Where is this old collector who has this fabulous array of cars and how do you know him?

But if you need an idea here is my suggestion.

53 Dodge becasue of the V8 and crusing ability

40 Desoto becasue of bigger 6 can cruise at 50-55 all day

then any of the others.

I prefer the desoto since i have a 39 Desoto and has been stated before there are not many pre-war Desoto's that are being seen at local shows.

Invaluable feedback guys! Keep it coming! I really dig the "why" you'd choose that particular car. Things I'd never think about like, the "big engine in the desoto running all day @55mph" or the "first red ram hemi" or "rare pre-war 42 coupe".....

I have car problems! I like them all, I'd totally get a loan and buy them all if I had a place to put them. But my common sense is telling me to meet in the middle between the one I think looks best and what will be more of a collectors car down the road. I plan on keeping it all original whatever I choose. And plan on keeping it a Looooong time..(grandkid hand me down kinda long)

Common sense tells me to get the 4 door so I can take the family for a drive....then my other common sense says get the 3 window big butt coupe because everyone likes/wants those. Start to see the war in my head now?

The 42 will always be a rare car due to limited production....but can you see yourself driving it, all twitchy, teeth clenched wondering who is going to hit you?

All because you are worried about its monetary value and or rarity....they say....whoever they are, that you should go with your gut and never change your answer on a multiple choice test.

I believe you said something about a moredoor and familiy:):)

Good Luck.

If the choice were mine, I would go for the 40 Coupe.

I actually have one, beautiful shape.

I have a 276 Desoto Hemi being rebuilt as we speak that is destined to go in my 40 Coupe.

Over here in Australia most of the Pentastar brand are rather rare.

Australia only got the 4 door models, mine was imported from the U.S.A.

Plenty of Fords and Chevs but unfortunately the Mopar brand is not chosen anywhere near as much as in the U.S.A.

I make an effort to get on this forum at least a couple of times a week to get "my fix"of Mopar magic.

Mick.

So Mick have you posted pictures of your car here on the forum? Many of us love looking at what others are driving and repairing.
