Joe, You gonna drive it to the Fort next month? I plan on having my car there.

No, I don't think I'll drive the truck. I don't think I'll have the bed until August. I might drive my 61 Galaxie Convertible or I'll just drive my daily driver. My dad will already be there with the 41. I'm just coming for the Saturday show and banquet.

Congratulations Joe. Truck looks great!

Been a long time coming!

Thanks!! And yeah it has been a long time coming and I still only have half a truck!!

It will be complete soon enough though!!!! I just can't wait to drive it a little.

Thanks!

The board is bolted to the frame, it ain't goin nowhere!!! I used two of the cross-member bolt holes. As far as painting it, I did think about painting it when I put it on. I might paint it this week one night. You don't like the natural pine??? lol

I remember those days though they were a long time ago. Mine did come loose once and slid off along a curve.

Hank, that bed is too pretty to use. Flat beds are cool. Put a trailer fender on to keep the road dirt from coming forward and sandblasting your cab.

I have and idea...why don't you take your fenders off. and sandblast your cab.

As of Friday, the truck is officially on the road! It drives and runs great. I'm a little impressed with it! It doesn't ride too bad, and I'm expecting the bed to smooth it out a little once its on. I put about 40 miles on it so far just driving around my house in the country. It has plenty of bugs on it already! I changed the oil and filter for the first time on the engine since the rebuild yesterday. It had tons of starting and stopping with the choke, and it has been in there for 4 years. It seemed a little thinned out. All I can say is that I'm one happy guy!

dude, that is one sharp truck...love the color...might steal it for TODD....

When I drove w/o the bed for a while it was a little light on the rear end, putting the bed on definitely smooths the ride out.

you should be very happy.... man that looks nice! you are defiantly an inspiration. i take it the bed is black? with the quality you have done i am surprised you are not doing the bed yourself.

I'm putting my plate on the truck somewhere, I'm still trying to figure out where. There isn't any good place on the engine to place it so I was thinking of on the firewall or maybe in the door jam next to the body tag and serial number? With my thinking, there is really no "right" place to put it, so I'll try and make it look "right" somewhere else.

Heres a better video of it running.

That plate originally would have been attached to the block just aft of the oil pump bulge. It would have been attached by 2 drive rivets. Paint might be covering up the original holes, but that's where it belongs.

WOW!  What a job you did on that.  Enjoy.

Please show us a load of boulders in the new bed when it is installed!
