Uncle-Pekka
Old guys rule !!!! I agree. For instance in the Soviet Union it was always the old guys who ruled. Ronald Reagan was old and he ruled. In China they do rule still today.
Olddaddy
I grew up in a 49 Plymouth Suburban and have owned several of them since. My 50 Suburban is a lifetime keeper. I've owned well over 100 cars and trucks in my 55 years and most of them have been Mopars. There is just something right about the Mopar engineering, style, and logic. Flatie46
I learned to drive in my grandfathers 50 Plymouth (which he bought new) when I was 15.Took it back and forth in the drive way until I figured out the clutch/gas thing then I forded the creek behind my house and drove around the corn field all summer. The floor rusted out under the aft support for the front seat so I put a piece of plywood on the back of the back seat and wedged a 2x4 from the plywood to the back of the front seat to hold the seat up. My first street car at 16 was a 48 4 door Special DeLuxe. I liked it so much I bought another one in 1970 which I still own. And I bought a 47 Club Coupe Special DeLuxe around 1998 or so with a freind (1/2 owner) until he wanted out so I bought his half (a year later) which caused my wife to divorce me (so I will never get rid of that one). I managed to keep both cars but just barely. I'm just about to start working on them after years of just sitting. Soon I hope. I just watched Ray Miland drive a 48 Club Coupe into a plate glass store front on tv! "Night into Morning" filmed in 1951. I like that part about the Plymouth causing your divorce. My ex said the 57 Harley I had was the cause of ours but I can't help but think it was the guy she was seeing on the side:D.

CANT STAND IT !! had my 63 chevy carryall (burb) for over 25 years .. always loved the way old dodges looked ... finally got one.. still a project ... i'll never get another computer controlled car.. i figure that if i spend the money that i am spending on payments,, on a old car,, it should be cherry in 5 years instead of being a hunk of junk that needs to go to the junk yard.... TodFitch
Ralph whats EMP stand for? think nuclear:cool: Google is your friend: The first entry when searching for EMP is the Wikipedia entry on Electromagnetic Pulse. Turns out that a nuclear bomb puts out a large EMP, enough to fry all unprotected solid state electronics within a fairly large range. And basically all non-military electronics nowadays is unprotected solid state electronics. So if the blast and and radiation don't get you, you will find that practically everything built in the last 30 or 40 years won't work because the electronics are toast. Flatie46
Yea,I know what an electromagnetic pulse is. I guess I just missed that turn in the thread.
T120
I was just kidding of course, but one of the nice things about the older vehicles is they're not too complicated and you can feel the road when you're driving. With some of the recalls that have happened lately with the newer vehicles, makes a person wonder about progress Edited March 28, 2010 by Ralph D25cpe
Niel Hoback
The difference between a 48 Plymouth and a 2010 Buick; You are transported in the Buick, while you do the transporting in the Plymouth.
