  1. Sunday of back to the 50s. Dad's 51 and my 64. Putting the fuel line into the 47. This and the following work after figuring out the gas tank got garden hosed by kids were the major work I got done. And a boring but very exciting one for me personally after jumping through all the states hoops I got titles for my project trucks.
  2. Sorry to hear that. Take care and recover your truck and us will be here when you're ready
  3. Thanks you should have seen it before the restoration started. It was very rough. I remember helping tow it as a kid and one of my jobs was to secure the doors to each other because they wouldn't latch anymore from rust making the latches misaligned
  4. You should have 2 more ball studs on the floor. The pedal pops onto the two lower ones and hinges off those to push the throttle linkage. Water pump should be the same either way now. The new ones have a little bit extra connections to make them very universal. For tune up stuff like the points you need to go by the numbers on the dist.
  5. Guess that means it's been too long since I posted Dad's.
  6. It's been a long time but way back we used to maintain a list of city state and phone and available tools that you could request before a trip
  7. I would guess 0. I don't believe any were standard on the 39-47 beds
  8. Yes 39s and 40s have headlights down in the valley of the fender closer to the grill. 39s are bulb and reflector and 40 sealed beam with a parking light on top. They also moved the dodge badge from the grill back to the hood side. 39-40 each have unique grill trims too. I'll stop there .....
  9. From the hood ornaments it's a 41-47.
  10. The shop manual should have the specs. You should get 4.5lbs at the carb. There is also a volume check 15 strokes of the pump should net you 5-6ounces of fuel.
  11. You've posted so your in. Suggest starting a new post for a build thread. Glad to see another job rated owner
  12. 15" by probably 5 and 5 on 4.5 bolt pattern
  13. My dodge truck restoration guide lists black as available. Not sure why it was left off the chips. My color chips didn't show it either. My 46 Plymouth chips mentioned black in text but there was no chip for it.
  14. Likely that one has a 4.1 but if it retains it's original 16" wheels it should be the same result as your 51. You need to rig up a tach and see what RPM you're really at before changing anything
  15. Ranting is ok but that was close to the line on politics which isn't
  16. It's fun to see how they treated these early options that most take for granted now. Dad's 55 has power steering brakes windows and AC! Loaded for 55 completely normal for now and people would ask where's the power locks and heated seats and steering wheel. It does have column shift though:)
  17. I think they'll ship but it's probably $$
  18. Got a TSC near you? https://www.tractorsupply.com/tsc/product/traveller-ford-tractor-hydraulic-oil-2-gal-t806600#
  19. Just an FYI I believe when I switched mine to 3.73 I was able to unclip the brake lines from the housing and swing the backing plate with wheel cylinder and line out of the way without cracking into the hydraulics
  20. Thanks for posting this. The one I got was a fake drop box attachment
  21. Once upon a time Dad and I bought a 52 Plymouth that turned out to have stuck valves. We reused that head gasket 3-4 times until we had a runner! We sprayed it with silver engine enamel each time
  22. What is the head size of the elevator bolts? The OEM bolts are just over an inch if I remember correctly. Mar-k sells a different style of you don't need to be 100% correct that uses a smaller head and then a special washer. I think they are still somewhat expensive but maybe you could homebrew that approach vs cutting threads and a screwdriver slot.
  23. Ooh fancy. And probably one of the few things to make them easier to restore. Dad's 51 convert had a unique color to the dash and was almost textured. The paint guy he took it too said the chemical to make that has been banned since the 70s!
  24. Was the belvedere like the convertibles that it didn't get a woodgrain dash?
  25. Didnt Mopar switch to aluminum in the 40s? My p15 ads list new light weight aluminum pistons as a feature.
