  1. Here's a link to my thread on how I addressed this issue. http://p15-d24.com/topic/31844-front-leaf-spring-replacement-on-my-38/ ***EDIT***just noticed you commented in that thread.
  2. I lowered the front of my '38 with leaf springs. Not at home now, will post a link to the work I did soon.
  3. At least give his post (#20) a "like".
  4. I replaced my rear and front ('38 Plymouth) leaf springs a couple years ago and re-used the original u-bolts/nuts. I chased all the threads inside & out and everything is fine (threadwise and condition). I try to rebuild/re-use whatever I can on my car, because I prefer the original Made In USA parts over aftermarket parts that are available today.
  5. And I thought this "hobby", "lifestyle", etc was about helping others out. I can understand scraping parts that are a dime a dozen, but with these older cars, we need to salvage good useable parts. in the end, it's your decision.....me personally, if someone is willing to pay the shipping, it's theirs. If it takes me a little work to help someone out, i'm just happy to help. I hope you don't scrap any good useable parts, especially at .09/pound. Just my worthless .02/pound.
  6. I hope you have money in the budget for a new set of rear tires every week or so.
  7. Unfortunately, many of the parts suppliers for our cars sell aftermarket crap made overseas & fitment/quality is often an issue. A small handful of the vendors do stock NOS/NORS parts, which may cost more, but worth the extra $$. Ebay is a good source for NOS/NORS parts.....a necessary evil. You may also post parts wanted ads in the classified section.
  8. I have a battery cut-off switch, it's a 1/2" combination wrench.
  9. If the original size tire for your car was 6.70-15, use the following link and attached chart (2 different sources) to get a radial tire size close, maybe not dead nuts, but close & your speedo should be close to accurate. According to your original post, your tire existing tire size 205/75R15 should be a very close match. Maybe your speedo needs calibration? http://www.teufert.net/speedo/tires.htm
  10. Great looking car with a perfect stance & nice pics.
  11. From what I've seen in pictures, the sway bar set-up on these tube axles is different than your "typical" sway bar set-up. I have a '38 Plymouth with the tube axle, there was no sway bar when I got it. In the few pictures I've seen, it looks like a "riser" of some sort attached to the spindle and the sway bar goes over the front frame rails. Also, in the pic from the OP, there is a different type shackle on the rear of the drivers side front leaf spring, which my car also does not have, mine has a plain "U" shaped shackle. My car does have some lean if I take corners at speed, but I don't know any different with this car. If anyone has more info on this type of sway bar set-up and shackle I mentioned, please chime in....pics appreciated. If anyone has installed another type of sway bar on the front, please post detailed pics of the attachments. Thanks.
  12. Very nice, hope it's running as nice as it looks.
  13. Here's a brass tube for the long blocks (which I believe you have), though not cheap, it is NOS. http://www.ebay.com/itm/37-38-39-40-41-42-46-47-48-49-50-68-L6-Brass-Water-Distribution-TUBE-NOS-MoPar-/140768281185?hash=item20c6718261&vxp=mtr FWIW, I put a brass tube in my U.S. Plymouth.
  14. Sounds good Mike, if I'm not working, I'll do my best to meet up with yous guys. Just let us know where when you figure it out.
  15. VERY nice!!! Keep updating as you progress.
  16. Very nice!!!! Even though I'm running the "early" Nicson dual carb intake George sold me, like we discussed earlier, I definitely want 1 of these for a future project.
  17. Did you start a thread yesterday on the same subject? I believe there are a couple replies. http://p15-d24.com/topic/39250-49-desoto-rear-lights/
  18. Looks like bones44 beat me to the pics, though his cover looks deeper than mine (at least in the pic). Here are a few more: **EDIT**-per my 1936-1942 Plymouth Master Parts List book....1936-1940 are the same part#....731270 without radio, 846965 with radio.
  19. So that connects to the coil & picks up both connections.....I don't know what's uglier, that connector or the square HEI coil that comes with Langdon's set-up.
  20. He's not looking for a "coil mount", I believe he's looking for the wire connectors that slide on the terminals on the coil.
  21. I'll get a few pics in a day or 2. The stock battery cover for my car is definitely different than the one in the ebay link above.
  22. Already posted in the Off Topic Forum.
  23. Did the pitter patter of rain help you decide or give you more garage time? Seems we've had more rain yesterday & today than all last winter, with temps in the 70's/low 80's........what is this, the South? Anyway, coming along nicely Bill.
  24. I have a '38 Plymouth Coupe, nearly identical to yours. I have the stock battery box with an 1/8" flat bar bent for a hold down, because I converted the car to 12V & the battery is to big for the stock cover. I have the stock cover, which is missing the inspection plate, which I may use in the future when I get a new battery that fits a bit better. If you need pics, let me know & I will snap a few and post them.

My 11 y.o. son & 13 y.o. daughter have been shooting for a couple years now.....my daughter prefers the .22LR semi-auto and my son loves the M1 Carbine (both of which were my Dads), even though they've fired quite a few different firearms.
