  1. I used studs specifically made that thread into the hub in place of the lug bolts. They have a stop so they only go in so far. It takes an allen wrench to thread into the hub, use a little Loctite and you're good to go.
  2. Not sure about options, but on my '38 Plymouth (nearly identical front end), I went through my entire front end/steering box & works really well. Front disc conversion also. Here's my thread:http://p15-d24.com/topic/26625-new-front-disc-brakes-front-end-rebuild-steering-rebuild-for-the-38-plymouth/ By the way, welcome to the forum, post pics of your car if you get a chance.
  3. Welcome to the forum. I don't have the answer to your question & I'm sure someone does, but I remember a thread a while back discussing something like this....maybe the "search" function (while you're on the main forum page) might help. Also, so your thread doesn't get "locked", re-post your "for sale" items in the classifieds. Post some pics of your '37 Coupe.
  4. Make sure you post pics....maybe before & after. I like 'em low, most (notice I didn't say all) on here don't. Watch your scrub line in the rear. Posies sells 3" lowered rear springs, though not cheap. They lower the rear 3" from stock height, but not low enough for me. I installed the Posies springs, removed 2 leafs & added 1" blocks with no scrub line issues.....still a "decent" ride too. Link to Posies:http://www.posiesrodsandcustoms.com/Go to page 44.
  5. Yep, every time I go, I end up coming home with tools. Try finding parts for a '38 Plymouth Coupe.....maybe a lug bolt that will fit, or some engine parts, but not much early (30's/40's) Mopar.
  6. I was going to say, "wait until winter", but here in the Southwest, we don't know what that is.
  7. The flat track video brought back memories of "On Any Sunday", many of the riders in the video were also in the movie. My favorite movie as a kid when it came out & still to this day, but I think we're getting a little off topic, so to get back on track (pun intended), I use Autolite 216's (aluminum head), was using Autolite 306's (stock head).
  8. Maybe DON Coatney? Also, edit the title to include his name, if possible.
  9. Yes, except for the rear license plate, otherwise, great pic. Looks very nice Tony.
  10. If it's $500 you need, ask your landlord if he'll loan it to you & pay it off monthly, added to your rent. Try a bank & get a personal loan, with the title from your truck as collateral. Good luck.
  11. Judging from the picture, new springs up front may result in the front being higher than the rear. Looks like either someone lowered the car before you got it or BOTH the front & rear springs are worn. BTW, I like the way it looks, nice looking car.
  12. Aside from what's been mentioned above, I've read some drill out the rivets from the lower spring pocket & re-install it (grade 8 bolts) under the A-arm. Not sure how much it nets. In my opinion, lower is better as far as looks & certain aspects of handling go, most will disagree. I have a tube axle front end, so I had new parallel leaf springs made & still ended up pulling a couple leafs., In the rear, I used Posie's 3" lowering leaf springs, removed 2 leafs & added 1" blocks.
  13. What is the brand/model# for the calipers?
  14. Looks like a fun ride.
  15. I'd like to see the cafe racer you traded for the truck.
  16. Looks great, nice to have an avatar with color.
  17. Since you don't use the cent anymore, maybe the government can send them the to all the radiator shops to repair leaking gas tanks. I've seen pennies soldered to gas tanks to fix holes in them.
  18. Congratulations on a successful run. You'll have to bring it to one of our So Cal gatherings, once the "other" motor is in.
  19. Try:http://egge.com/
  20. The tip cleaners in the link are "typically" for torches, but I've used them on wire feed tips also. If the tip gets a little buggered, hit it with a file or put it to a grinding wheel for a second, then run the tip cleaner through it.
  21. Ok, I assumed (I KNOW!!!) that it was flux core only, that's good it came with the conversion kit. Gel is for MIG only. I think there are a couple different gas mixes, check with your supplier & tell them what you're welding.....haven't MIG welded in 30+ years. Flux core only now, all structural with .072 wire. When I clink on the link, it is for a watch, not really my style either.
  22. It sucks they weren't in the box to begin with, but you would've ended up buying some sooner or later & it's good Lincoln is sending some your way, just make sure you double check the size for the wire you're using. Lincoln Electric is a very reputable company.....their machines are "Miller Killer's". It's never too late to learn to weld, while your "practicing", look into a community college welding course....or 5. You'll find things to weld that didn't need it. The Gel is for the nozzle when MIG welding, which you would have to buy an adapter set-up for, I believe yours is set-up for flux core only, out of the box. A good hood with auto-lens is one of the best investments for any welder, the hand held face shield you don't need anyway, so you're not missing anything there. Good luck & be patient.....you'll put down a roll of dimes in no time. If you want to see something welding related and you have Instagram, search user "weldporn"....amazing stuff. As for the OT forum comment, just messing around. The OT forum is "generally" (used loosely) for non Plymouth, Dodge, etc car specific threads....or something like that.....might be explained under the Off Topic forum header. Just copied & pasted from the Off Topic section: Use this forum to post threads of interest not mopar car or truck specific. Religious or political threads are not allowed and will be deleted.
  23. Just mention you're going to be using this on your Plymouth and it won't get moved to the OT forum.
  24. Check out this link from the HAMB.....post# 124 shows the wheel stud conversion/pics, but don't recall if he has a parts list in this thread. Had it saved in my watched threads, but didn't read through the thread, prior to posting this link. (I lived in Fullerton from '99-'03). http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/my-40-plymouth-coupe.648944/page-5#post-7453807
