  1. I'll post pictures with the difference....lord knows I have enough laying around...lol update: posting images is a task for me when using video from my phone! This all I have for now....the 1st is Fluid Drive, 2nd image is without. 48D
  2. Will need FD pedals too....fluid drive pedals are different than the standard pedals. 48D
  3. As I understand it, the "Job Rated" era is from 39-47, and liberal usage by the builders (and customers) was on going for years. It was a Dodge created term, so I imagine they had no problem when a designer who wanted to put "job rated" somewhere on the truck. 48D
  4. Abandoned 1950 Dodge Pilothouse truck will it start and drive? Had a great time watching this video....kudos to the maker and man. 48D
  5. I had an old mentor tell me to have a tool box full of cheap tools "to loan to your friends...." ....that way, you keep'em away from the good stuff, and still be friends. I'm sure Dodgeb4ya has a wall of "special tools" in case I come around askin'.....you know, to keep me away from the good wall. lol 48D
  6. Theory?? Theory??? Well I don't live everywhere in the country...so maybe I'm just "lucky" enough to be surrounded by asphalt roads....lol. Merle is right...potholes still exists, my point was that it was designed for less forgiving roads than today, and aren't as critical as they would have been to a guy haulin' milk cows. The guy haulin' a folding chair and ice chest won't need to be spot on with the spring tension. Either way, get them tight enough to stay together. 48D Editors note: Merle and I have known each other personally for many years....he's super smart and I have a lot of old dodge trucks.
  7. Fancy pants! lol Where's the jealous icon??? 48D
  8. Merle, I've had two part trucks with that kinda tail light set-up. Wonder if there was a popular mechanics article that guided a few of those upgrades. If it hasn't been mentioned yet, my favorite deal is the tireless brake hub......patiently waiting for a spare. 48D
  9. The springs are designed to let the frame flex when driving down the normal oiled country roads of the 1950's, and not tear up the gas tank. But since those days for the most part are behind us and our trucks.....just get the tension tight enough to keep the nuts in place and don't bee hittin' the potholes. 48D
  10. Here's a link to a forum member who is just now finishing his 53 truck on a Dakota frame. He has multiple posts on his progress, but they are not linked together,so its hard to follow. The link gives you all the pictures, but you'll have to search his forum name for the commentary. His build would apply to all B series trucks 48-53. His forum name is "Buds Truck". Buds Pics for 1953 Dakota build. 48D
  11. I heard the sarcasm, come on now..... (I was lucky to have found Steph when I did.....I was kinda busy racing and playing with old trucks.)
  12. Its moments like these, that make ya hate putting the door skin on..... Good job buddy! 48D
  13. 1951-53 have a lip/ridge on the hood halfs. 1951-53 have the wiper arms mounted wider than the 48-50 1953 is the only year with the "square" rear fender The truck appears to have the 5 lug nut rim (not the lug bolt) which would make it at least a 3/4 ton truck...not a 1/2 ton. The grille badge is 51-53 The bumper is 51-53 because of the molded center for the licence plate 48-50 did not have the center of the bumper "shaped" The body line on the door stops half way across on 51-53 48-50 had that door body line go completely across 1 tons typically had longer beds, which can be seen by the space between the rear cab to the front of the rear fender..... Without the right angle, from what I see...the gap is wide enough to make it a 1 ton. 48D
  14. Jim Shepard won the Tenth in 2017! This is the picture he took with the trophy at his home shop. 48D
  15. Had a great time with you guys "KenandBecky".....lol. As always, its a bunch of fun and this time around I'm getting a drone! See if I can catch all the weeds I missed! @Adams: Well geez, that explains the funny looking kid on a wagon who stopped by my place and said "yo, I'm from Mars, Plymouthy sent me...smile." 48D
  16. "Dodge may have used a small child with a tack hammer to strike the number die, as the stamps are often shallow, and may be hard to find." This could not be a truer statement, lol. 48D
  17. Send what you like my way John, happy to help keep your contributions active and kicking. And I have to say...Thank You, your work has been awesome. Tim aka 48Dodger
  18. Change is good. You helped a lot here.....maybe you'll try another era Dodge and see us here again. If not....by all means, thanks for all the help and input to others! Good Luck my friend. 48D
  19. I bought a guy out of his truck parts and have been moving said parts all week. He's a forum member so I'll keep to myself about his story, but I'm just glad he called me so I can keep doing my part to keep the interest in old Dodge Trucks alive! I'm on my way to pick up the last few things including two L-6 engines. GOOD LUCK ? EVERYONE!!! 48D
  20. That's sad......she'll always be part of my 80's experience....."The chick from the White Snake video".....no one could ride a hood quite like she did. 48D
  21. "Man, I got times ta kill.......I know, I'll take Dad's ol' Dodge out fer a spin" lol. 48D
