  1. "Definition: A usually green film formed naturally on copper and bronze by long exposure or artificially (as by acids) and often valued aesthetically for its color. b : a surface appearance of something grown beautiful especially with age. Use: 'the beautiful patina of this antique table.' Websters" Other possible definitions. "Rust bucket extraordinaire" "Paint? Whose got the money for paint??" "Patina??" " No, I said 'Paint not needed'.....geez, careful, you wanna start a trend???" "Painted when parked".......❤️ 48D
  2. Mount Aukum is a nice area....I've worked in Jackson at Sutter Amador Hospital for the last 22 years.....I grew up in San Jose. In 2007 I went to the Shenandoah Valley ATHS* Truck Show(classic big rigs) and met Jim Sheppard for the 1st time. Of course it wasn't by accident, we had chatted on this site (old version) for sometime and wanted to meet. It was after meeting him and a few others from the forum that the BBQ got its start. I think you'll fit right in, lol ! 48D * American Truck Historical Society
  3. I'll take it!! 48D
  4. Those are the bushing. It looks like you have already bought new bushings....the wear from the original bushings has transferred to the leaf spring, in my estimation. If I was to guess, I would say you need a bushing pressed into the leaf spring.....just a guess. It really depends on how much play we're talking about. The rear front spring carry a lion share of the load IMO. Would like to hear what Dodgeb4ya has to say. 48D
  5. This was my 2009 build. I raced the truck in the 150 mph class at Bonneville. It may or may not help.... 48D Build Thread: Volare front-end Experiment...
  6. "....For the others who are interested maybe just a little entertainment." I am entertained! Good stuff sir. 48D
  7. There's room for long distance travelers .....just let me know when your're getting here! We've had folks from Australia and Germany. We've had many travelers from Nevada, Oregon, Washington, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Ohio, Tennessee and Arizona. Its more like a family BBQ than a car show.......plenty of Dodge Trucks guys that will have the answer you need, the part you want or understanding your desire to own an old Dodge...lol Sometimes it ain't easy being a Dodge Guy in a sea of Other Brands....but here, you'll feel right at home. 48D
  8. California has the best Pilot-House truck show......imo 48D
  9. Epoxy is a high resin primer for sealing up metal and/or body work. Its not really meant for shaping. Urethane primers (High build)are soft for shaping/blocking .....think of it as liquid body filler. When you're done with shaping you'd be wise to toughen it up with an Epoxy primer. When you head in the booth to paint color, you may choose to shoot the Epoxy again (thinned down) as a sealer (wet). Paint is very sensitive to oils and grease.....even if you hit it with wax and grease, so a wet sealer helps make a chemical bond vs a mechanical bond (sand marks) for the color coat. Here's the dig......most primer company's will try and say its a shaping primer and a sealer primer in the same can. Be careful.....try to keep your primers separate IMO for fun...1974 Dart thread 48D
  10. I understand what a Custom Rod is, a Hot Rod, a Resto Rod , or even a Rat Rod....not to mention Muscle Cars vs Sports Car, or Lowriders vs High Boys.....i just don't hate on any of them. Having said that, I spend MY money on Mopar Muscle and Mopar Trucks. Just a Story I remember in 1988.....my brother John gave me Grandpa's 1968 Coronet 440 4 door (383 2 bbl) that he gave him in 78' to use for college......I jacked that back end up, put big 10" wide rims , wide tires, rolled the inside fender lips with my bat, smaller tires in the front, 4 bbl intake/4 bbl carb and sprayed the interior with black upholstery paint. I even made a wood center console to hold a tape deck for the speakers I put on the back "shelf". Not to mention the glass packs. My Grandmother said "oh my" her eyes said "oh sh*t"....I've learned so much about building cars since then. Grandma never understood my take on cars, but Grandpa thought the ol' Coronet looked "cool".......:) 48D
  11. If its driven, taken to a show....I don't mind.... My only problem is with guys who keep a perfectly restore able vehicle under the Oak tree and let it die a slow rusty death. "I'm gonna put a sweet motor in it and make it a nice hot mucsle rod someday!" I say give it to the neighbor kid who just built his first motor with his Dad so the kid can drive it as a "rat rod" til he's got the time to learn to paint. 48D
  12. I like it. 48D
  13. I believe the serial number for the Dual carbs is E7U1, E7U2....but that's for the 301, 331, 377. Try that in the old search engine and maybe it will lead you to a disussion on th 218, 230's. Unless you have one of those bad boys....lol 48D

  15. Yeah....gotta check wikipedia. The boat is in the storage area, "not for sale" sticker on the windshield. Left a note....maybe he'll come to the truck show. 48D
  16. I'll have those.....time to get picking. 48D
  17. Ok, that's why you're coming by for a bell housing.......got it set aside for you. You're welcome to come by and check measurements here at the ranch...I have both types out of their respective trucks. 48D
  18. Numbers are lightly stamped on the drivers side of the frame behind the front wheel. You'd have to exchange a lot of parts to go from a 1950 to a 1951-52..... Cab is 51-53...has the wipers in the right location. (48-50 are more mid line) Hood is 51-53....has the pronounced lip along the bottom. (48-50 are without the lip) Grille of course isn't like the 48-50. My guess is the door tag is from another truck. 48D skip to 7:30, on this video I made..... 19. That Chrysler boat was a different one than I was looking at. Here's the other pic. I didn't realize they were in the boat biz at one time. Guess they could have had a division for boats called "MOBO"......lol 48D
  20. Definitely considering this boat....I'm 56 and the kids are gone.....it's just for me and dogs. I don't ski, I explore. The truck was gone BUT there was a consolation prize...lol.
  21. I'm looking for a boat.....something to cruise the Delta and lakes in my area. Hitting the local park and sell to look over this rig.... But I just can't seem to escape my love of old Dodge Trucks...lol. Guess I'll be looking at more then just the boat tomorrow 48D
  22. ? AWESOME.....standing O, brother. 48D
  23. This is a video I did a couple years back, may or may not help. 48D Estrada MotorSports 1948-53 Dodge Trucks: Steering Knuckle Kingpin
  24. As I understand it.....back in the day, city streets were a bit more narrow. So you would park, lock your driver door, slide across to the passenger door to exit. Then you would lock the passenger door outside. Hence, only a passenger side outside door lock. I have a "driver side" factory lock I received from our buddy in Australia (Davin) I'll use to use on my U.S. truck. 48D
  25. Those rear fender inserts are priceless......lol. I finally got mine from an Aussie 1/2 ton truck via Davin. 48D
