  1. Hope all who want to come can make it!!! Its at my ranch in California so it wont be cancelled! Cars are welcome, even if its an off brand. We always need something to prop the gate open with..:D CYA There! 48D
  2. It's humor, not meant for educational purposes. 48D
  3. Vise Grip Garage.....fuuunnny! Youtuber....from Minnesota. 48D
  4. I WANT FOR THE WALL!!!! 48D
  5. It's a tradition....Tod questions my belief in weather guessing almost every year. I also believe the Oakland A's will win it all every year....and as a rancher, I rely on the weather to grow grass for my cattle...when it comes to that, I never believe it until I sees wet stuff hit the turf. As for the actual question, Accuweather. 48D
  6. Just read the first report on the weather .......78 degrees and no clouds! Woohoo! Make sure your Sun visors work cuz it's gonna Sun shiny outside! 48D
  7. Looking good......if it's just gonna do parade laps....might as well put a 241 Hemi in it for fun! 48D
  8. Grabbed my 72 Dodger Charger circle track racecar from a wrecking yard out yonder that was owned by an old lady in a flowered sundress and a wide brimmed straw hat. Chewing on her cigar, leaning on her cane she said " if you're gonna buy the whole thing, ya caint try and registore it"....I said " I'm gonna race it round dee round like Richard Petty!"....."Oh....well that's alright with me sweetie...just don't hurt yourself"....real story. 48D
  9. Looks good to me. Let's spit shine it and race it!! 48D
  10. Just a FYI: The Pilot-House Truck used rivets for the 48-49 frame attachments, then switched to bolts starting in 1950. The early trucks 39-47 used rivets also, so I think of the mid to late 1950 truck as a transitional year for the PH. Other stuff (not completely related to the thread, but related to the frame) Things that changed in 1950 mid year was the floor shifter moving to a column shifter, the king pin increased in size, and the steering box was changed to fit the new steering brace design. 48D
  11. Brittle? Never heard that...most automotive arguments are "is it ok" to use grade 5 instead of a grade 8. I've always used grade 8 on suspension stuff and grade 5 for less stressful stuff like brackets. 48D
  12. These may or may not help. Videos I made @10 years ago. Rear shackle removal part one Rear shackle removal part two 48D

    Covid

I'm in my 37th year of Healthcare. I'm a Radiologic Technologist (X-Rays). I've been on Graveyard for the last 22 years by choice. I started the job when a new disease was crushing the local Hospitals. It was called AIDS. To this day we still follow protocols that reference what we learned in the 1980's. Now, with retirement on the horizon.....I might finish with my career dealing with COVID19. We already see changes at the Hospitals that will be in use for many years to come. I lost my Father in law to COVID, two of my children have been infected and recovered..... 48D
  14. Rain or Shine....its gonna happen. Jerry's truck has been to 'em all I believe. 48D
  15. Ok...Zac stopped in and helped the old man, but still plenty to do. The flyer is done, so look for that, and the yard is coming together. The fire pit area is ready and the shop is ......well....I use it as a shop, so it needs a bit of dusting, lol. I CANT WAIT FOR THE TRUCKS TO COME ROLLING IN!!!! Here's a reminder of 2016...... SEE YOU THERE!!!! 48D
  16. Can't wait to try it out on the home racetrack....wohoo! 48D aka Tim
  17. Not sure this helps Keven, but thought I'd post it in case it does. (51/52)-53 was the Red Ram 241ci V8 for Dodge.....considered a smaller Hemi. The 331 was was a more typical Hemi (bigger) for most Chrysler products. Not all trucks could get a Hemi but could get a "Semi-Hemi" in the form of the 270(Dodge) Poly Engine starting in 1955. Note 1 : A lot of Dodge guys like the Red Ram for its size (smaller, "easy" to fit in) and being the first Dodge Hemi. Note 2 : If you have 270 Poly, Hemi heads can be fitted to it, along with the rest of the top end to make it a Hemi. Good Hemi Article Good Poly Article Good Dodge History 48D
  18. Wohoo!!! Its getting close! Tons to do, but like always.....no one is coming to see the yard! Everyone's Coming Here To See The Trucks, Cars and Crew! I'm gonna need some of you Minnesota cats to show up 3 weeks early to help clean. Any takers??? Brent, you don't have a choice....see you this weekend. 48D
  19. Gotta love an old COE. 48D 1949 COE
  20. Stop by and pick me up Ed!! 48D
  21. Enjoying your tear-down/build Mertz......I have several different year trucks, among them a 1938 Humpback. Are you keeping the original power-plant, or upgrading to something modern? 48D
  22. "Wildcat Mopars" and other mopar wrecking yards have been telling for the last 10 years.....over seas markets are driving our prices up. Wildcat sold 5 or 6 E bodied cars to Saudia Arabia, and another E body to South Africa. The guy in Grizzly, Ca told me he hated to sell to locals because he got so much for parts over seas. I'm not getting any younger, I used to get 68 Chargers for nothing in 1985.......last time I looked, a beater with no motor is 25 grand. 48D
  23. As I understand it, Editors at Websters study the language as it is used, and determine if a word, or word usage is included in their dictionary. Motor means "to move".......Engine is a metaphor. Its a hard pin down what the original use was intended for..... let me use my "search engine"...oops, where's the pistons in my computer again??? Words change meaning, They evolve. For example: "Dashboard" vs. “instrument panel”.....a dash board was literally a panel on a carriage to block debris from the trotting horses. The two are are interchangeable now. "General Motors" might be "General Engines"...though they do have an Engineering Dept "BMW" could be "BEW"...... German translation for “engine” is literally “motor” ....so its maybe both already. In France, they have one word for both engine and motor.... “moteur” Google Translate: "Motor: a machine, especially one powered by electricity or internal combustion, that supplies motive power for a vehicle or for some other device with moving parts." "Mouse Motor"...eh, maybe not a good example. ....I'm not a "motorist" anymore....I'm a "enginist" (hey, I like that one). Can't wait to tell the DEV (Dept of Engine Vehicles) Not to mention Mopar should be changed to Enpar.... ...guess I'll just keep "motoring on" using my own motor functions to get there. 408ci
