Update: Christmas Eve turned out to be just under the freezing mark, -2C with no wind, no rain, no snow and a great opportunity to spread some Christmas cheer. My wife, Daughter, Sister in law, son in law and myself drove every street in town and spent an hour and half waving, smiling and enjoying the evening. Even smiles and waves from the retirement center and local hospital. Merry Christmas!4 points

Well, on Sunday is Xmas Eve, and the real busy day will be on Xmas day for everyone that is hosting a family get together, with all of the food preparations and cooking the big turkey, the gathering in the morning around the Xmas tree and religious items and opening presents. But the most important aspect of the holiday is not the amount of presents or the cost of the presents or dwelling on what you wanted and or did not get from someone, BUT the true meaning of Xmas is the renewing of our faith, no matter what faith you have. It is the renewing of being kind to a fellow person or helping a senior citizen that is lonely because they lost a loved one this year or just being there to help a person get through the holiday season. Some people get depressed, and others get excited, but we all have mixed feelings. The time is very hectic, and everyone is in a hurry to get someplace. So, plan to leave extra time to get to your location, plan for those people in a rush, try to control the anger when the traffic is at a standstill. Getting upset will not make the traffic go away. It is better to be late to the party or family celebrations versus not arriving there at all. To many people get over tight and stupid things happen everyday. As we also prepare to start a New Year some will go out and celebrate, please be aware of how many people have been at parties. Everyone needs to reflect back on the previous year in 2023 and try to make changes to make 2024 a better year. Think about how you can be a better person and make changes to your life to accomplish these things in 2024. Life is a journey, so make the best of what each and everyone have, life is really short and when a loved one has passed during the last year remember them fondly because all we ever will have are the memories. Merry Xmas and a Happy New Year to everyone. Rich Hartung2 points

The engine in my 46 WD15 is a 230 from a 1958 W100 I believe, might be D100??? Anyway, I was going to swap it in one of several ideas, but I think I'm going to stick with it. It's been a pretty good running engine that fires on the first try, when it's been run in the last week or so. I've never "gone inside" to check it out, so today I did a compression check. Here's what I found. 1. All cylinders are 95-100 PSI. I didn't bring it fully up to temp. I didn't remove the air cleaner and open the throttle, so it might be slightly higher...I guess. Either way looks pretty good. 2. The plugs were NOT gapped correctly. Way bigger than .025, didn't even measure, just regapped as I put them back in. All look a bit lean actually, no deposits or other "bad things". Engine seems in very good condition. About 50 PSI oil pressure just off idle, 40 at idle and warm not hot. Next up is to install the PCV conversion I got from Vintage Power Wagons oh so long ago. After that, I'm going to put some Reds headers on it and then rebuild those two Carter WA-1 carbs I bought for my Offy intake. I have the kits already, so it's just a bit of time. That's all this thread is going to be. Me talking about things I see and things I'm planning to do. As always comments are welcome so long as I'm not expected to change course over a difference of opinion. Merry Christmas everyone! Happy New Year.1 point

I would not trust NOS rubber parts for anything much less my brakes. Dot 4 should not be a problem1 point

Here you go Keith, something that will fit in your garage and keep with the theme you have going. 1938 Knucklehead. Get a sidecar for it and take the wife out for ice cream. Joe Lee1 point

Other than the fact that the starter pulls hundreds of amps starting the engine on occasion and that would fry any push button you tried to use there shouldn't be a problem. You would be better off getting a 6 both starter relay like my 51 Plymouth uses. It's very similar to the Ford relays you might see in the muscle car era. And using your push button to control that1 point

Merry Christmas to everyone and to all you celebrate it with. I spent a little time in the garage enjoying the +1C weather and getting ready for a little spreading of the Christmas spirit around town this afternoon. Professor Plum and I have about 13 miles planned at sunset to go up and down each street with carols playing and lights flashing. Should be a hoot, Dave1 point

Likely will not hit the shop or barn today, traditional Christmas with gifts and dinner is always on the eve at our house, grandparents breakfast at my son's house on Christmas morning so to see the grands with the Santa gifts.....NOW from there, I bet I will sneak out to play a bit...reworking a bay in the barn to maximize the usage.1 point

I looked up "catch as catch can" on the internet, but it didn't tell me what a catch can is. But the guys 'splained it to me. (Keeping it light-hearted.)1 point

Seasons greetings to you all. And some fine advice Rich. Being at the bottom of the world, just to the left of the International Date Line, it's summer and my Christmas day will start at 4.00am. Just over six hours from now up for milking. Ho ho ho!!!1 point

So here is the end of the saga! I made the trek to the parts store and bought a cigarette lighter extension that I was able to connect to the 12 V lawn tractor battery and strung the lights and this was the final product. Looking forward to Christmas Eve when Professor Plum and I get to travel through town. Merry Christmas or Seasons Greetings to everyone.1 point
