greg g Posted January 28, 2021 Report Posted January 28, 2021 (edited) A couple weeks ago I was cleaning out closets and decided to consolidate and organize my Plymouth paperwork and literature. Went on line and with help our friends at Google I put in courier bags. Thought that might get me in the right zipcode to put my stuff and even carry some in the car when necessary. Got three or four sites that had bags and valisess suitable to the job. I opened and perused a couple sites but didn't order anything. In the interveaenins 10 days or so this page has been plastered, with military surplus, survivalist, and covert mission supply stores. Quasi uniform design services, Everything from MREs to area survialence and suggestions for area security and denial devices. If I didn't know better it might look like I was setting up a P15 bug out posse I think it might be time to check out what the support host for this sight is looking at when trying to pair up buyers and sellers through it settings, this is beyond searching for boots and getting LL Bean shop online items. And yes some of these things are popping up on face book pages I visit as well as embbeded ads. And by the way, I found something to fill my needs. My wife had just bought three sets of queen sizesheets and pillow cases. The zippered bags they come in are nearly perfect. Will hold magazines, catalogs, they have carrying handles pretty heavy duty sippers and hold quite a bit of stuff. Not that I am against the site getting advertising revenue but it makes one wonder what their community codes words are. The one currently popping is Sportsman's Guide, a military surplus and camping gear outlet. Edited January 28, 2021 by greg g Quote
plymouthcranbrook Posted January 28, 2021 Report Posted January 28, 2021 I don't have a lot of trouble with that but do clear my history whenever I am done for the day so maybe that is part of it. Cookies and all. Just have to make sure passwords are saved. Quote
kencombs Posted January 28, 2021 Report Posted January 28, 2021 Standard google behavior. They provide your search data to anyone that pays. Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted January 28, 2021 Report Posted January 28, 2021 you did not think they gave the Window 10 away for free without some manner to recoup the cost...you are a commodity being bought and sold on the internet daily... Quote

You have to do a lot more to actually stop Google, Facebook and others from tracking you around the web. Even right here you are being monitored by Google (this site uses google analytics) so Google knows which threads in which forums interest you. Funny thing, at least to me, is that if any level of government tried to track you half as much as these companies do we'd be up in arms. But since unregulated companies are doing it for profit we mostly just shrug our collective shoulders. Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted January 28, 2021 Report Posted January 28, 2021 well to some degree we benefit from the private entities....the other, they always makes one wary... 1 Quote

Sniper Posted January 30, 2021 Report Posted January 30, 2021 I use adblocker ultimate and I rarely see any ads. Not sure I am being protected from being spied upon, but I don't get ads. It'd be nice of google didn't get paid for the ads that are being blocked. Quote
P15-D24 Posted January 30, 2021 Report Posted January 30, 2021 Just a FYI... Those ads are what pays the bills to keep site online. Guys, the internet really isn't free for web site publishers. Don't be surprised in the future to see software that requires you to accept ads to visit the site. Quote
