HanksB3B
O.K. So what if you don't have a Flathead ? But then what if you don't have a Pilothouse either? I demand an explanation. I'm PMing the administrator immediately and asking for more sub forum titles like W-Series and especially a Rat Rod Truck Forum so we don't have to look at them here. I'm mad as all getout and confused (not really), Hank
rglowacki
I'm just glad there is a forum for these trucks. When I first started looking a month or so ago, I didn't think I would find one. I have a recently purchased Model TT truck, and the Model T forum is understandably extremely active, considering there were 15 million of them made, but this was an unexpected find for a truck that means waaaaay more to me than the Model T. I'm a younger guy with little knowledge of these trucks so you guys who have literally torn them down piece by piece, and put them back together and run them over the years are invaluable to guys like me. I know we're here so it isn't a biggie to me. +1 on that. Actually to be fair...this was a good chance to use a poll to get popular opinion. Who's idea was it and what was the reason for the change. I haven't heard a good reason and no one has fessed up. . If Pilothouse was too narrow a category why not call it Mopar Truck Forum. There are probably more trucks out there with other than a flatrhead engines then there are people with "W" series or what ever the title change was supposed to accomplish. Change it back or drop the "flathead" and just call it the Mopar Truck Forum. Lets burn off our oil cap sludge at the same time all around the world in protest ! Certainly the W, B & C series trucks share some commonalities. Beyond that I couldn't say. I do know that this has been a very strong forum from the standpoint of being helpful and generally friendly. To me it seems a good idea to make others with similar trucks feel welcome. Especially if they don't already have a home as effective as this forum has been. Jeff
Merle Coggins
Maybe it could be the "Job-Rated Forum". A Forum for all early flat head powered Dodge, Fargo, and DeSoto trucks.
Plymouthy Adams
the single most common item attributed to these old trucks is basically the flathead..yes in the later years along side the flathead V8's were an option..these trucks were classified into series..Glamour Era, Fore Point Era, Job Rated, Pilothouse, Functional Design and then lastly the Power Giant that basically ended the flathead series except for special application like military and commercial fleet trucks for power companies etc in the Power House lineup..so technically the flathead continued through '68 in production trucks.. though the sub group name was changed... the general online website I think still lists it as Pilothouse.com it is strange the car side does not seem to be so divided on make and model.. Don Coatney
What is in a name? When I read this forum I use the "VIEW NEW CONTENT" hot key on the above tool bar and this brings up all postings that I have not read in all forums no matter what they are named. I do not own a flathead powered Mopar truck but I do post on the truck forum as well as all other forums. All forums have a "like" hot button for postings that are liked. Perhaps this forum needs a "don't like" hot button

B1B Keven
99% of the customers I get on eBay have never heard of this forum. 75% didn't know their trucks were called Pilot House's. We are growing. And, that's a good thing. This new sub heading makes us easier to find.
Plymouthy Adams
The Powell has to be the very ugliest truck ever grace the American highways...they make a Stude look like a glamour queen....I don't care how utilitarian they are, how low cost they were made to the public...ugly is ugly.....the Aztec of the 50's maybe even uglier than a Crowsley Edited May 11, 2014 by Plymouthy Adams

pflaming
All the above having been said, when you want a flat head with an ahead of its time design, then there is only one choice, the Studebaker. Now that is a class act, double wall bed sides with metal floor, running boards hidden behind the lower door edge, overdrive transmission in 1952, dashboard and fire wall all in one piece of metal so that all wiring is accessible from the engine compartment and finally nicely sculptured body lines, no sharp edges, it all fits and is aerodynamic 50 years ahead of every one. Plymouthy Adams
Stude a class act...different yes...ahead of its time...don't see that in the truck line...the cars were a bit more stylish for the era.....next thing you will be telling us that Rolls Royce is on par with steel wheeled roller skates...
