Ok. So this year the BBQ will include awards. I've never done this before, but its kinda of fun so far.

One award strikes me as more special than the others, because it represents the guys who like the

idea of coming together as truck guys, but would have to give up more than most to be here. Be it

because of work, distance, an Ocean, or even health.

At the past BBQ's, names from the forum/club are always throw around.

"Yeah, I'd like to meet that guy" "Or man, I'd like to see his truck"

So in the spirit of "I wish everyone could make it"......

We have:

"The Wish You Were Here Award"

The first five years are retroactive....cuz it seemed like the right thing to do.

Thank You for the support my friends, and Congratulations on the awards!

2008  Don Coatney

2009  Merle Coggins

2010  Hank aka HanksB3B

2011  Ed aka Young ED

2012  Bud aka Budstruck

2013  Tim Adams aka Plymouthy Adams

I've been tipped off this is enroute to me..I will say foremost that I am very honored to have been selected...I assure you if possible I would be there in person...but in my absence I want to say that these are times well remembered and for the few events I have hosted I have had nothing but fun and appreciate all the guys who have sacraficed the time and driving cost to attend...hats off to those who make these events possible...and to the guys who particiapte

I also am honored. A trophie for me will be given a slot on the high shelf much more so that a trophie for a car or truck. But the real winner in all of this are all the attendees and the wannabee attendees such as myself. Tim AKA 48D deserves a big salute for hosting this annual do.

It is great that Tim is awarding keepsakes to be given to his many, many, many friends. But what keepsake will Tim get for all his hard work? I noticed that Tim backed off on his dibbs for a bumper and this bumper will now be auctioned off. I suggest that the bumper and all procedes from the auction both be donated to Tim to help him off-set his cost for hosting this shindig and to give him a usable keepsake in appriciation for all his hard work.

If anyone has any other suggestions on a special keepsake for the host of this party let them be known.

Great idea Don.

Since selling these parts is giving me the money to make the 12 hour drive, I'll donate half of what I get for the rear bumper to Tim.

Looks like I will miss yet another year to attend the BIG BBQ. I got my new piston today. The wrist pin was a bit snug but I installed it anyway. Put everything back together and hit the starter button. Broke my crankshaft in 3 places and poked a hole in the side of the block. All of my blinker fluid spilled all over the garage floor.

Thanks Tim! Great trophy. It currently resides on the mantel above my fireplace. It will stay there at least until Lisa comes home.

OK... maybe it's not that dramatic, but I'll charish this much more than a leg lamp in a box marked F R A G I L E

It is proudly displayed on my bookcase and shall remain there. (because I don't have a wife to tell me to move it. ;) )

I know it is not the best picture but the award is a Class A act...thanks so much..I do wish each and every one of you a safe trip there and back and that you have a most enjoyable day.  In case someone wants to down a BBQ sandwich in my honor, I like mine with cole slaw right on the bun along with the meat..

Well here's mine,

Actually I'm quite touched by the gesture. It makes me think about all the other guys on the forum that I have great admiration and respect for.  Being ranked among them in any way is really nice. I was hoping to make it this year but won't be able to.  I am looking forward to the year I make it... and I will Tim.  Thanks to guys like Tim that make this forum a great place to be.  Hope everyone that goes this year enjoy the best Tailgate BBQ ever.

Special thanks to you Tim for sending this to me. I'll treasure it.

Hank  :D

got mine today too. I LOVE IT!!!  It has a bit of extra character, also, it has a wonderful "notch" on the top of the piston from a valve. Thanks Tim, I can't tell you how honored I am. By the way, Tim, I sent you a pm that needs answering....... :)

This is one of my nightly prostate moments. Si I was just pondering my drive to Clements. It's 314 miles round trip. @ hopefully 15 mpg @ $4.00 / gal = $88.00. I could cut that in half with my Honda Accord but then one wouldn't want to take a Samuri sword to a western gunfight!

Posted

better than the ~1927.8 miles for me!  At roughly 10 PMG and $4 a gallon.....almost $800 ONE way!  Oh, and 3 days to travel!  I think the BBQ is safe from a direct visit from FEF.

When I run my #45 Street Stock or The Brick.....its 10-12 bucks a gallon. I don't think about it as transportation or whatever, but as a means to validate my exsistence...." I am, therfore, I race "

You built the truck Paul....where else is best to show it off to people who will admire it the most? Where?

Put the calculator away and enjoy the ride my friend! :D

This is Lisa and I just read this. You are in trouble. The mantal belongs to me. Don owns the garage and his man cave office. I own the rest.
