  1. Joe I have more then my share of old trucks a 48 B1D 1 ton dump truck ( 4 sale in the forum classifieds) a 1976 Dodge d100 also have a 59 w200 and a 69 w300 finally a 2000 s10. The old trucks like the pilot-house or the fords you are looking at are fun to own but not the best for daily drivers. I think you would find a 70's truck to be more useful ,old enough to be fun to drive and easy to work on (no computer). They travel well at highway speeds and around town and something you will not worry about if you park it in the home depot parking lot. As a example my 76 dodge d100 has a 8' bed ,318 with a auto trans ,disc brakes and power steering. I have used it to load lumber, sell scrap and tow a few old Plymouths home. It does not have to be a dodge in fact like the old vehicles the parts are still more available for the fords or chevy/gmc. Ed
  2. Body # should be on plate on the engine side of the cowl (drivers side)
  3. I have a set of the hf ones they are ok for a long term project but would be a PIA to use them for a running car too much set up time jacking up each wheel to load the car.
  4. I just added my truck I do not see many trucks from members here hopefully they will add theirs. I relisted the link here with the url http://www.townwagon.com/4853registry/index.php
  5. http://medford.craigslist.org/cto/2563102107.html
  6. Yes heavy wire and it is a through the wall connection so 6 volt is the logical choice when I get sometime I will have to check these out better. Its amazes me the stuff I buy and just forget about
  7. As here in NJ I am in the path of the hurricane I was digging out a generator I have not use in a long time and found 2 Arvin heaters I got at a auction a few years back. Is there a way I can tell if its 6 or 12 volt. I am thinking maybe by hooking up a 6 and or 12v volt battery and seeing how fast it turns ?
  8. Another option is to use a adapter for a newer style spin on. http://www.jegs.com/c/Oil-System_Oil-Filter-Adapters/10467/10002/-1
  9. I got some from rock auto when I did mine you may have to search there sight by part# to find them . summitt I am pretty sure has them and there shipping maybe be better then rockauto and NAPA if there is one near you
  10. At least for now new jersey is old car friendly. Only pay $42 (maybe a little more since I last registered) and its for as long as you own the car you have to re register every few years but no extra fee. Laws for collector car are I guess similar to other states but most police I have meet do not give you a problem with a older car. About 4 years back I was had a 52 plymouth on my trailer towing with a 76 dodge truck with collector plates. A local cop came by we talked a little about the 52 plymouth and help me reset the car on the trailer I thanked him and left. I run a newer old car 77 impala with regular plates have to get it inspected but only needs to meet the rules for a 77 car
  11. I had a 52 plymouth that had the tank sealed by the po when the tank got low I would stall. After a long search I found that the sealent had plugged the bottom holes of the intank filter. Not saying its your problem just something to consider.
  12. With 2 cars its close to scrap value not a bad deal
  13. Do not have one at this time but over the years have had 2 49 plymouths and 1 49 dodge and as I recall that year had the 1 green light on the dash for signals. If this is a correct then 49 must have at least had the signals as a option
  14. You expect a honest report from a used car dealer
  15. I have not done it but if you do the repair I would flush it well and keep it filled with water and as many vents open as possible.
  16. No help on the axle but I remember that magazine have most maybe all issues it was a very informative publication.
  17. My previous house 2 floors basement and attic I guess 30+ feet on the ladder while painting it. Sold that one 20 years ago this house is a ranch paint it it short ladder you have to plan for old age ;it happens to anyone who lives long enough to retire
  18. I would post on a jeep forum that covers the year of the rear.
  19. every state is different but I had a truck with a incorrect engine number I just titled it with the engine# a little while later put in a title change to correct the number only had to show a tracing of the correct serial # and of course pay a fee. I had the serial # tag in your case you may just want to swap it to a current engine #
  20. Never been a fan of the police cars but I do like the ones done as a old taxi. I think someone on here had one a while back
  21. hi stan I also replied to you on the oldplymouths fourm good information on both but more active here. Here is a link actually 2 that is worth reading, part of this site but many new members miss it as they come directly to the forum. Its directed to the P15-D24 models but yours is mechanically the same http://www40.addr.com/~merc583/mopar/framesets/techtipframeset.html http://www40.addr.com/~merc583/mopar/framesets/welcomeframeset.html

You most likly dropped two the tirck is to find them I know my garage is like a black hole I have lost assorted small part never to be found again. Not sure if you can but they new but someone parting out a car should be able to help you out with another cap
  23. The price looks good today but not sure how expensive they are in 1939 $'s
  24. Here are some ads from old auto catalogs the 1st 2 are from 1953 the last one is from 1939 so you can see what was sold back then
  25. Here is the original one installed on my 52 you can also see the replacement aftermarket one, which is not historically correct. I have not checked out what is the problem with the original. It has PLYAL 55G marked on the ring that goes around the wheel
