  1. Back on topic When I saw your posting for a package shelf I recalled that norms coupe had some instructions on doing that and led me to wondering if his web site was still active as he had some good informatiom on there. It is still active and here is a link to the package shelf if anyone needs to redo theirs. http://www.indfloorcoating-repair.com/48plymouthpackageshelf.htm
  2. Looks like a good fit I just did may brakes a few months ago but I will have to consider this option.
  3. Try this link it may take a minute to open It is from the online parts manual at the DPETCA link on the top menu bar http://dodgepilothouseclub.org/know/ph_parts/b_5.pdf
  4. Great price I had one for years had to replace it got anew one at my local true valve last week for $15.00 so 2.99 a great deal
  5. The rear line runs along the left side of the frame to a bracket where it connects to the rear brake hose
  6. I did get a lot done this winter replaced complete brake system, new seals and bearings, new steering gear (drag link and tire rods) need to clean the bed and body up a little to get it past the insurance co. and get plates
  7. Giver Roberts a call I know they carried them a few years ago (800)-231-3180 Email: sales@robertsmotorparts.com
  8. I have just finished my brakes but may install the dual master. I and otheres had been looking for a dual master for these trucks the problem seemed to be finding one that fit in the limited space between the firewall and the steering column but if the cherrokke fits it is a great option. If you could get of photo showing the mc in place that would be great
  9. On the trucks the brake switch screwed into the mc but the cars had it inline and it should not matter where it is as I have seen it in the front and rear of cars but it always was on the left side. I do not think the mechanical switch is that hard to do but the thing I am very interested is you MC The master cylinder you installed from a 1990 Cherokee if it can be fit in place of the original on the trucks then you have made a great discovery. Please expand on the MC installation
  10. I have had my brake light switches last for years in my vehicles and a few I have sold to friends. However I had or box of nos ones that I had been using. When I did my B1d this year I finally had to install a new switch, used all the old ones I will be cautious to see if the new one fails. The other thing is I upgrade the brakes systems I do to dot 5 silicone and had read where some people felt that the silicone fluid cased the switches to fail but not in my experience. Another option I have considered but not tried is the mechanical brake switch one example is in the link below http://www.speedwaymotors.com/Universal-Mechanical-Brake-Light-Switch,1972.html
  11. Not sure what % the phosphoric acid I get at home depot is but have been using it on frames and bodies for I guess the past 6 years on a recommendation from Tim Adams It works great cleans the rust. I am not a chemist not even much of a label reader but I would think most of the high priced wonder products just contain things like phosphoric acid or similar basic chemicals with some additives.
  12. The earlier numbers I posted was there professional grade. They raybestos has what they call a service grade which is cheaper not sure what the difference is numbers below 401-1003B and 401-1004B Rockauto also has them it wont show up in a search by truck but if you do a part search they come up the professional parts are about $50.00 each but you have to pay shipping. We all do different things with out trucks but I do not mind spending money to replace things like steering and brake parts because crashing is so expensive
  13. I was wondering if it was incorrectly boxed but I had it a few months before I installed it so did not take back to the store
  14. When I replaced my steering linkage I had a problem with a napa tire rod it did not fit correctly. I had one from napa and one from raybestos the one from napa the taper on the tire rod shaft that goes in to steering knuckle was not thick enough and did not fit correctly. I would up using 2 from raybestos which were a perfect replacement part #'s 401-1003 left thread 401-1004 right thread This is for a B1D truck
  15. I had use vinegar to clean up some mild rust in a p15 gas tank a few years back. Used about 6 gal left it in a week flushed with water. It worked well but a little slow but it does work and disposal is not a problem as it is not a chemical.
  16. Try this link Macs a Ford dealer shows them but not sure what length http://www.parts123.com/parts123/yb.dll?parta~dyndetail~Z5Z5Z50000021d~Z5Z5Z518888~P6.45~~~~S2XY1CX8II67825123350g~Z5Z5Z5~Z5Z5Z50000021D
  17. It is a good idea but as stated it depends on where you work I am retired work in my garage so I guess I have my car at work every day
  18. What year and model is your truck and what are the axles from some of the eariler 48 - 49 used a larger diamiter king pin (spindles and axle diamater should match) maybe you have the wrong Kin Pins or are tring to match parts from differnt trucks
  19. I have brought door looks, trunk locks to my locksmith and he makes a key he even made one for a door on a model T about 6-8 years ago. maybe not always the correct blank but it works. same for the ignition if you want to keep the original he just changes the tumbler. This is not mall or super type store just a guy in a shop on a older part of town. and yes the newer ignition units bo not fit perfect but they have a nut in the back to tighten and you can make them fit. I am not a 100% restore type for example the seat in my 48 truck came from a 59 dodge truck.
  20. Not sure I understand you question I was commenting on the post above and wondering why anyone would buy a lock for 39.00 without a key. My local locksmith makes me keys for locks for less then 1/2 that price. If you need a ignition switch most auto parts should have one that you can buy new for about $15.00. Not sure abut the hood ornament maybe try posting in the parts wanted section.
  21. Check the pilot-house gallery there must be a truck in there with a rear view mirror http://dodgepilothouseclub.org/gallery/main.php
  22. 2nd seller listing. why would anyone buy a lock without a key at that price. You can just take what you have to a locksmith and have keys made.
  23. Tubless yes, I heard it before but do not know what drop center is
  24. Sad to here another member is driving on the highway in the sky. Bought some parts off him years ago back on the old p15 board
  25. I use raybestos wheel cylinders on my 48 1 ton wc 3595 left and wc 3596 right
