  1. I have a engine that is already put together. I decided to go a different way on my 52 Plymouth Coupe. I am removing the cam to have it reground to a better performing engine, along with duel carbs, and headers. This action may not agree with some, but that's my decision, and I am sticking too it. Stan
  2. I have my valves in, and no head on yet, on my 218 engine. I want to remove the cam. Is it possible to hold the valves up, with pieces of wood, and turn the engine up side down to keep the lifters in place. then slide the cam out? Stan
  3. If you don't have the special tools. Pack the bushing with grease. Find a rod the same size as the bushing. Pound it into the bushing. The grease will push the bushing out. Stan

  6. I will not live long enough to make a show car out of my 52 Concord. As I mentioned before I am making my Plymouth a little hotter than the stock car. Along with dual carbs, and headers, and a 5 speed trans. I want to have my cam reground. This is where I need some help. I am sure others have been here. Snyder Camshaft is near me, but I have no idea what grind I need for my 218 engine. Any info appreciated. Stan

  8. I have been working on my 52 Concord off and on for years. I have decided it will never be a bone stock show car. I am going to make it a little different. Raising a family, I never had the time or money to invest in a car I didn't need. I go to shows now, and never see any flat head 6's, that are a little over stock, like duel carbs, and headers, . I seed many older cars with big V8's. I am sure people have 6 cylinder flat heads running that are not stock, I just never see them. I already have my duel intake. There are several options on the duel exhaust. Landdons Stove Bolt makes cast iron, headers that look good, but I read with it, I can't run a stock fuel pump. An electric pump is another option with their header. Red Headers makes a welded tube header, which looks good also. Anyone have experience with either, or know of another just as good.Stan

  10. I had a 49 New Yorker back around early 60's. I had to make sure the choke was fully closed before it started after sitting. Another car I wish I had kept, and not let Dad take it to the scrapper. Back then it was just another old car. Stan
  11. My pulley (what's left of it) the previous owner destroyed it, is 6 1/2 OD, with a 3/8 inch groove. my Triumph project was a 61 TR5C. Hope you have a good set of whitworth wrenches. Stan
  12. I have been off my 52 Plymouth Concord for some time now. A hip replacement stopped me for a long time, My Triumph motorcycle project slowed me down. The motorcycle was on a raised table, no stooping. I still have a little problem getting up after squatting, but it's manageable. So it's back to my Plymouth. A year or so I was trying to locate a front pulley. Nothing available. Same as now I still haven't located one. I have a pulley off an older motor, with the wide belt. Will the thin belt work, or is the pulley too wide at the bottom? Someone must have done this. My next option is use a wide belt on the water pump, and gen. (or alt.)Or anyone have the correct front pulley for my 52. Thanks Stan
  13. Does anyone know if a Borg Warner overdrive parts from a 57 chevy will fit the Plymouth transmissions. Reason is, Borg warner made most of the units for the transmissions back then, from what I have read. If not I might sell the chevy trans, and put the money towards a Plymouth O/D transmission if I can even find one. stan

    For some reason I can't seam to access the adds. In the past I was able. What do I need to do, to have access to the adds? Stan
  15. When I removed the hinges on my 52 Concord, it was quite a fight. I believe you will need to heat the nut on the inside, as well as the head. I heated mine dull red. If you have a torch with a small tip this is better. As it was cooling I used a spray can of rust busting solvent on the parts. A impact screwdriver is a must. a couple of my captive nuts turned in the holder. I was able to get a vise grip plier on the nut to hold it from turning. Like I said quite a fight. Stan
