  1. I would not buy old electronic capacitors from what I have read they dry out and may not be useful, beside they do not look any different then what I can by at napa when I tune my car. Same thinking on any rubber nos parts is basically a crap shoot if they will work correctly
  2. Is the replacement cap smaller can you hollow out the old one and put the new one in it. I guess you tried antique electric supply http://www.tubesandmore.com/
  3. Nice looking truck, I would be tough to find a rust free truck like that here in the on east coast
  4. Here is some information I got from Rhode Island wiring a few years ago. http://oldmopar.com/oldmopar/wirecodes.html
  5. If its still avaiable I could use the air cleaner off the truck
  6. Try a electronics parts spray cleaner to clean up the sending unit it cleans the electronic stuff but does not leave any residue like a oil based product will. Spray it and move the arm up and down to allow the cleaner to clean the reostat .
  7. You can get whatever you need a local NAPA, Just be sure you get the standard flare if you buy the premade lines. If you do your own flares they should be double flares made by using a adapter with the flaring tool. I usually just use the premade and couple them together. Its been a few years since I worked on a p15 but as I think its all 3/16
  8. I do not think there is a option to subscribe to threads to get emails about replys. Or if there is its not automatically turned on.
  9. Post a photo of your truck if you can. Here are a few good reference links, both are actually parts of this web site http://dodgepilothouseclub.org/index.htm http://www40.addr.com/~merc583/mopar/framesets/techtipframeset.html
  10. I can understand the bank not caring they are not out any money but there must be some Canadian law enforcement agency you can report this to its a shame to let the crook get away with this. Someone must live at the address where it was delivered.
  11. My truck has a newer chrysler industrial engine type 30 (230) and has a aftermarket filter canister but as oil filters were not standard equipment if they were installed by a dealer or owner they could have a different filter. I have seen several different types of filter housing use different size filters. The filter in my canister was a napa 1004 when I got the truck but as I had a sock filter on a shelf had it for few years it did fit in well I guess it was one of the old style that fit correctly. To add it o the head confusion my newer engine date code in the early 60's has a K on the head
  12. Good information I put a link on the menu on my website as one source of this information http://oldmopar.com/
  13. Universal tire has them but not cheap link below. Some of the early 60's dodge ,ford and ih 1 ton trucks should have 16" wheels that fit but most that I have seen are the loose/split ring type which is not a big problem but they usually need to be serviced by truck tire shops https://www.universaltire.com/truck-and-military/truck.html?p=2
  14. Friend of mine took a heater core for his 42 dodge truck to a radiator shop to have it cleaned and checked not sure what the cost was.
  15. 16-18 gauge sheet metal works well ,not that hard patch floors you should be able to get it local if not below is a place I used for some metal, may not be the cheapest but they deliver. http://www.metalsdepot.com/index.phtml?gclid=CNPusu6B5KsCFcXe4Aod0CA_Rg
  16. A few years I go I had planned to rewire a P15 and got some information with Rhode Island wire about the original wiring markings at the link blow is the information they sent me http://oldmopar.com/oldmopar/wirecodes.html
  17. If you had a lot of crud in the tank you may want to blow some air into the tank through the gas line to clear the in tank filter. I know the cars had them and I think the trucks also had them if not someone will correct me.
  18. Like GB my 48 truck has the 3 tab lock ring also my 60 d300 and my 52 suburban all have the lock ring not sure when they switched over but I would guess you truck also has the lock ring
  19. If the drain plug no longer is usable I remove the tank sending unit and use a electric fuel pump to drain out the tank
  20. I run the cheaper gas which still has higher octane then these truck originally ran on. 10-30 oil I do not use oil additives ,90 w GL4 in the rear and trans (not sure about fluid drive transmissions). Dot 3 brake fluid works I have my vehicles running dot 5 silicone (best done with a complete brake rebuild) and air from my compressor in the tires
  21. A 1951 Mopar service tech book recommends connecting the red wire to the long terminal http://www.imperialclub.com/Repair/Lit/Master/048/Page20.htm
  22. If you want to do some good reading on these trucks check out The dodge B series book by Don Bunn. Link below to amazon to show the book you may be able to get it other places for better price http://www.amazon.com/Dodge-Trucks-Restorers-Collectors-Reference/dp/1583880879
  23. Like in all things the old ones will try to teach the young ones, The question is will they listen and learn
  24. I use a 12 volt jump pack and have not had any problems but the amp gauge pegs but no real problems. Just be sure you do not have anything 6 volt on and do not step on the brakes as there is a good chance you will pop the bulbs. also for better starting in addition to large cables if you relocate you ground closer to the starter I think that should help.
