They are size M6-1.0, M8-1.25 ..... That is a metric size, 6-8 mm

40 plus years in the electrical distribution industry. There is no difference in the wire it self. Both are manufactured to AWG standards. The difference would be in the anealing of the copper and the number of individual strands in the conductor. The portable cord will have more strands and be softer(more flexible) than standard automotive wire. The insulation will also be a rubber compound material. In short 14 gauge wire will carry the same current regardless if it is portable cord, automotive, or building wire.

Confused You said the output measured 10 volts. The link you provided is for a 6 volt positive ground alternator.

I purchased from seatbeltsplus.com Their standard retractable belt was sufficient in length. I opted to buy a longer fixed end so as to get it thru the seat back and seat cushion

The 1958 Plymouth had the 230 as an available engine and should have been a 12 volt system.

I don't think the vibrator (power supply) in the radio is polarity specific. maybe some one else can confirm or debunk .

Just a thought How do we know the accuracy on the gauge. 70 years on the gauge and sending unit. I think sometime we look for problems when the problem is ????. My 51 seem to run hotter than I remember. After setting 35 years and a complete rebuild on the motor and new radiator. Before I panic I'm going to get a thermometer and stick it in the radiator, then I should know if it is my memory or something else.

Seems to have the wrong thermostat housing for a '54. So did they change the head or just assemble from what they had on hand?

Fixing inside bumper rust with POR 15 on 48 DeSoto

three years ago the bumpers for my 51 plymouth cost me 750.00 ea to have plated. They chemically stripped and removed a few dents before replating. The bumpers were the most reasonable cost. All the extra misc parts added several thousand to the final price. Items that I thought were ok looked like junk next to the new bumpers. Snow ball effect, where does one stop once you start. places doing the work are getting hard to find. -
That is an oiling port. A few drop of oil at each engine oil change will keep the bearing/bushing lubricated, there should also be one in the front plate for the front bearing.

my 51 cranbrook has the serial number tag like in snipers photo above. The passenger side has the dome lite switch as is in the photo by vintage6t above. The dome light is centered above the rear window. There is also a slide switch in the pillar between the front and rear doors on the drivers side(4 door car) that controls the dome light.
