  1. Can anyone tell me what the opening in the door jamb (circled in red in photo) is for? Not my car, owner does not know.
  2. I am starting a new thread on this even though I have seen the previous threads/posts about the oil pressure gauge hose connection to the gauge. I am working on a '51 Business Coupe using the stock instrument panel/gauges. I understand the special fitting is used to attach the rubber hose with the 3/16' tube on one end to the gauge. I am trying to determine what to do on the other end. It will be plumed into a 350 Chevy. The oil ports on that engine is 1/8" FNPT which I should be able to adapt to given the size of the fitting on the rubber hose. I have not purchased the hose yet. Does anyone know what size the female end of the hose is? From the picture it looks like it is an male inverted flare but, would like to know what size it actually is so, I can figure out how to adapt it before hand.
  3. I figured it out. Top two are illumination, bottom two are turn indicators. Thank you for all the help/replies!
  4. More questions on the 51 I am rewiring. Are the bulb sockets circled in the photo all just gauge illumination? I don't see any turn indicators when I shine light through so, I assume they did not exist? Thanks.
  5. I am wiring a 51 coupe for a customer using a modern 12 volt harness. I want to know how the light switch functioned origionally. Im not familar with this type of rotary light switch as opposed to a GM style pull on type switch. The switch has two positions. The first position has continuity from input to output on 4 out of the five terminas on the back and moving to the the second position sends power to the 5th terminal. What do these positions corrospond to? Is the first postiion front and rear running lights and the second adds dash and headlights? I also assume that the light switch sends power to the dash light dimmer switch since it does not have on actual off position and sending power from anywhere else would resulg in the dash light always being on. My thinking is if I connect 2 terminals to the front park lights and 2 to the tail lights the first position will light front and rear lights. Use the single terminal to send power to the dash lights and headlight dimmer will result in front and rear running lights working in the first position, and all lights working in the second position. So, there is not really a seperate function to send power to just the front running lights?
