dwertz1
Hi Everyone! My name is Dave and I am the proud new owner of a 1957 Dodge D100 pickup. This is my first 'old truck' and I feel like I found a really nice one. Hopefully a 57 D100 fits in with the rest of the member vehicles here :-)
Reg Evans
Welcome to the forum. Wow ! Nice truck ! 57 is one of my favorite years. Flat head or V8 ? Edited July 1, 2014 by Reg Evans
dwertz1
LOL, I am such a noob to not give any details LOL! It is a Flat head 6 with a 3 speed trans. I am told that it was originally the same engine, but this is not THE original engine. I looked up the casting number on the block (starts with T116) and from what I can tell the engine is from a 40-ish truck. According to the gentleman I bought it from it lived in Southern California until 2001 when he brought in to Pennsylvania. He claimed it hadn't seen rain in 13 years. Given the fact that he only put 1000 miles on it since 2001 I can believe it. I was looking for a solid truck (rust free) to be able to work on as well as drive and enjoy. B1B Keven
Beautiful!!! Welcome and more pics please. Like Reg, the '57 is one of my favorites.
dwertz1
Here are a few more pics. The guy I bought it from had purchased a replacement headliner in 2001, but never installed it. That was one of my first projects, not sure if I got it right, but it looks better then not having one at all. He also gave me a replacement windshield, another steering box and column and 3 plastic tubs of misc parts. Jeff Balazs
Welcome. Very Nice 57. I looked at one here before I bought my Pilothouse. Ironically it had a lot of rust and that became the deciding factor. Not all California cars are rust free...... Jeff
dwertz1
Not all California cars are rust free...... Jeff LOL! That's what we think here in PA where we drive through salt-slush for 3 months a year.

Jeff Balazs
That one probably started it's life up here in the snow belt. Nice looking truck, DW. '57 is one of my favorites too. Maybe.....but I think the combination of bad door gaskets and carpet had quite a bit to do with it. Shame too as it was a 1 ton with a 9' bed and factory Poly V-8 / 4 speed. Would have been a great truck if it were not for the swiss cheese. Dave have fun with your new truck. It is very nice and you hardly ever see one. dwertz1
Real nice job on the headliner, Great looking truck to start for your project. Drive it and enjoy it Welcome to the Forum . Thanks for the feedback on the headliner! My Wife gave me a hand getting the main piece in place and feedback on what seemed to look right. We thought it looked ok, but not sure how "correct" it was. I need to find someone to cover the sun visors so I can get them installed.
