Who knows a good supplier for speed equipment? Ie, headers or a split manifold, multiple carbs, hot

cam, stroker crank, turbo, etc?

Below is the best example yet of why ma Mopar never put a high lift long duration cam in a street car.....notice how the high performance engine actually develops less torque  and fewer ponies...UNTIL 4000 RPM where they are equal....just how many times on the street are you going to be pulling some 4000 sustained RPM..(remember the blue lights..they out there)  if not racing this pup...you losing power for your average driving...this is with a pretty peppy cam, 750 Demon carb, dual plane manifold...and dual exhaust and header...and a high performance ignition that they said point blank did not out perform stock Chrysler electronic ignition

OK boy bigaadams. Here is your first posting.9/22/02. Looks like you arrived a year late.

It is fun reading the old forum. I see a lot of faces that are still here and some not here, Norm was Norm and not Norm's Coupe. Nelson was very active and he is no longer with us. Joe Flanigan was here. Frank McMullen and blueskies are here, GTK was quite active, Christopher, Tod Fitch, David Maxwell, Greg G, Ed Griff, Low Oil, Cokeboy, Denise Libby, Bob T, Larry Catt, Gary Maines, Scott Monte, Vanbuskirk, Mike Maker, Charles Furman, Doug Benedetti, and many more.

When I removed mine, I looked close and saw where the pins, when installed, where staked

with a punch to prevent them from working out. Drive from opposite side with punch and

hammer...

I must have just missed out on the original forum startup...I found the original site & relayed the story about the road-timing I witnessed to GTK and he added it to the Tech Tips section back in '99.  But my work schedule intensified at the same time my home PC upped & died, and I didn't look at the p15-d24 site again until I found a laptop on clearance about 10 yrs later.  That was 10 yrs of struggling with a faulty carb & wonky steering & old batt.cables and stewing about what to do with that rusty paint job...can't help but wonder sometimes how much further along the '48 & '49 would be if I had accessed the brain trust years earlier...ohhhh well, water under the bridge I reckon, one of these days I'll catch up

Also make sure you have a good solid clean ground connection and that your cables are suitable for 6

volt.

If I recall correctly, the wiring kit I got a couple of decades ago from YnZ's had a diagram with it on how

to hook things up. Likewise the kit I got a couple of years ago from Harnesses Unlimited also a diagram

and hookup instructions. While both of these firms are bit pricey, the wiring is authentically covered

(modern insulation under the cloth) and high quality.

Replacing the wires does not require changing the voltage even if you don't have a kit. I rewired a '57

VW with no kit and no diagrams. I did not have to change the 6v system to 12v to do it. Just hook it up

the way you want it to work. In the case of the VW I got rid of those horrible original fuses under the

boot and put an American style fuse block inside the passenger compartment.

The guy is taking you for a ride. Price sounds way

too high. Bumpers usually go for around $200 to

$250 and the guards for about $50 each. For the

little items you can usually get a lot price, if you

do them all at once. Check some other places in your

area or check out the ads in Hemmings.

Interesting history there, Don.  I know it's been fun and informative over the past several years.

I've learned numerous things about my car that I never had known....being that I'm one of the

world's worst mechanics.

So.....thanks to all the contributors, new and old.

Merry Christmas to all and a Happy Mopar New Year.

Hey Don, I think that was not my first post.  I found the forum while my car was in the paint shop.  I believe I did a brief intro of both myself and my car and asked about how to get the door lock key cylinders out as the folks at the shop were stumped.

By the way your first post was lacking information about what car you had whee you were from ie. your profile was lacking information.  I remember you talking about starting to drive your car back and forth to work and how the engine started making funny noises and missfires on the way home one afternoon shortly after you acquired it.
