JBNeal Posted December 17, 2013 Report Posted December 17, 2013 I must have just missed out on the original forum startup...I found the original site & relayed the story about the road-timing I witnessed to GTK and he added it to the Tech Tips section back in '99. But my work schedule intensified at the same time my home PC upped & died, and I didn't look at the p15-d24 site again until I found a laptop on clearance about 10 yrs later. That was 10 yrs of struggling with a faulty carb & wonky steering & old batt.cables and stewing about what to do with that rusty paint job...can't help but wonder sometimes how much further along the '48 & '49 would be if I had accessed the brain trust years earlier...ohhhh well, water under the bridge I reckon, one of these days I'll catch up Quote

Likewise the kit I got a couple of years ago from Harnesses Unlimited also a diagram and hookup instructions. While both of these firms are bit pricey, the wiring is authentically covered (modern insulation under the cloth) and high quality. Replacing the wires does not require changing the voltage even if you don't have a kit. I rewired a '57 VW with no kit and no diagrams. I did not have to change the 6v system to 12v to do it. Just hook it up the way you want it to work. In the case of the VW I got rid of those horrible original fuses under the boot and put an American style fuse block inside the passenger compartment. l Plymouth: The First Decade Quote

Price sounds way too high. Bumpers usually go for around $200 to $250 and the guards for about $50 each. For the little items you can usually get a lot price, if you do them all at once. BobT-47P15 Posted December 18, 2013 Report Posted December 18, 2013 Interesting history there, Don. I know it's been fun and informative over the past several years. I've learned numerous things about my car that I never had known....being that I'm one of the world's worst mechanics. So.....thanks to all the contributors, new and old. BobT-47P15 Posted December 18, 2013 Report Posted December 18, 2013 (edited) The convert should be back in 2014 from this.......... Tornado flying debris that went in thru the grille and into the engine bay as well. Dale had to clean each radiator opening with a pipe cleaner to get it out. To this................The return will be duly announced here. Edited December 18, 2013 by BobT-47P15 3 Quote

greg g Posted December 19, 2013 Report Posted December 19, 2013 Hey Don, I think that was not my first post. I found the forum while my car was in the paint shop. I believe I did a brief intro of both myself and my car and asked about how to get the door lock key cylinders out as the folks at the shop were stumped. By the way your first post was lacking information about what car you had whee you were from ie. your profile was lacking information. I remember you talking about starting to drive your car back and forth to work and how the engine started making funny noises and missfires on the way home one afternoon shortly after you acquired it.
