Dodgeb4ya Posted February 3, 2020 Report Posted February 3, 2020 Excellent design and fabrication. Gotta love that! With the diesel engine a 1/2" or more of Dynamat or factory like sound/heat block would be nice. I'm sure you have a good plan.? Quote
ggdad1951 Posted February 5, 2020 Author Report Posted February 5, 2020 Welded in! Can pull the cab and spend hours finishing the welding and grinding! 2 Quote
minicooper Posted February 6, 2020 Report Posted February 6, 2020 Did you do the fabrication and install cab-off-frame? Can’t tell by the photos, other than how awesome it looks! -roland Quote

I will remove the cab to finish stitching up the butt welds and grind any (ha-ha) excess material. 1 Quote
ggdad1951 Posted April 18, 2020 Author Report Posted April 18, 2020 Work for the day. Some pretty some not.... 1 Quote
ggdad1951 Posted April 21, 2020 Author Report Posted April 21, 2020 Well, for better or worse, TODD has a full floor. Some spots just downright gave me fits so I ended up chasing welds. Knowing I'm going to grind a radius on the outside of the frame notch, I bridged the hundreds of spot welds to give myself some meat to dig into. I really was trying to watch distortion on the cab back. I used the old cab floor corners (body panel glued to the outer skin) and made fill in panels. Some selected grinding left, but I'll wait on that a bit so I give the rust monsters less to work with. 7 Quote
Radarsonwheels Posted April 23, 2020 Report Posted April 23, 2020 Nice milestone! Can’t wait to see video of it driving Quote

ggdad1951 Posted June 14, 2020 Author Report Posted June 14, 2020 My neighbor offered me the use of his rotisserie....gonna make finishing the welds SO much easier! Fun week ahead! 2 Quote
ggdad1951 Posted June 19, 2020 Author Report Posted June 19, 2020 took my "free" day and did some grinding on the welds thus far. I will have to redo one whole line of welds on the trans tunnel as I ground thru them since I didn't prep the seem properly. Quote
ggdad1951 Posted June 22, 2020 Author Report Posted June 22, 2020 well the weekend is over (at least I think it's Monday), floor and firewall work is done, now on to filling in the missing bits of dash and the random holes that are there, clean up my fill panel by the drip rail, and finish the cowl/firewall plug welds and the cab will be done until I tackle the doors and get a steering wheel and seat set up figured. I little bit of filler and sanding on the lap joint interfaces and butt weld areas when it's paint time and things will be nice and pretty. Meanwhile, AFTER being done on Saturday, AFTER I cleaned up, I took off my PPE and THEN got this little bugger in my eye and ended up in urgent care to get it removed. 1 Quote

Been there done that with the chip in the eye (twice). Quite painful. Quote
John U Posted June 22, 2020 Report Posted June 22, 2020 looking good Mark I'm glad someone has ambition I hope your eye is better at this rate you will be done in no time Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted June 22, 2020 Report Posted June 22, 2020 been there....it seems even though I know ahead of time that this stuff is in my hair, eyebrows and even on the PPE itself...and I try to blow it off prior to removing the PPE...anyway..whamo right in the eye like the eyeball is a magnet of some sort...sorta like being on a golf course....ever notice how the trees seem to suck a ball in their direction? ggdad1951 Posted June 25, 2020 Author Report Posted June 25, 2020 Today's progress. Needless to say the cab PO mucked up the dash bad cutting in 2 holes, a huge notch for a SW, and the speaker area cut apart. Nothing a little filler and building primer won't fix. 1 Quote
Ram Man 02 Posted June 25, 2020 Report Posted June 25, 2020 very nice! ill have to make arrangements to stop in some weekend and check things out in person. 1 Quote

Jared Duramax Posted June 30, 2020 Report Posted June 30, 2020 Looks great how much fighting did you have to do to get the doors to line up correctly after all the cutting? Quote
