Merle Coggins Posted April 9, 2013 Report Posted April 9, 2013 I got one. The longest distance traveler (that didn't drive a vehicle). I'm getting a collection now. A few more and I can build an engine. It might run funny, but it would be a "Trophy" engine 1 1 Quote
Alshere59 Posted April 9, 2013 Report Posted April 9, 2013 That 46 dry box looks like a sweet project. You planning on a Build thread? Might make a nice camper for the BBQ next year. To Tim and the hole gangBoth Christiane and my self had the best time of all the events we have attended. Were still talking about it at 12:39 AM Tuesday morning. Tim and your crew were amazing. As soon as I walked up the drive way, I was greeted and I new this was the place to be. For us being outsiders with our stock 34s (HA HA!!) We couldn't believe how great that each person was at this function. Tim, You know the story about Christiane losing here husband 2 years ago from a stroke. They built Dodge City Vintage in Jamestown Ca. I have not seen here have a good time from all the functions that we attended. I asked her how it was different. It was the people being genuine. Ages from 18 to 94. We got home in Sonora about 11:00 Sat night, couldn't get her to leave the camp fire. She especially loved the bird show. She loves animals. We got up early Sunday morning to go out to the pastor to pick out a truck to redo for the next event. It's not a pilot house truck, what we pick is a 1946 Dodge dry box truck that was used to deliver cookies in this area. Next year, were planning on being there for a couple of days. Were going to try and bring a truck load of Mopars. Thanks again for the good times. Dave and Christiane 2013 1 Quote

Might make a nice camper for the BBQ next year.It would take to much band width HA HA. Longs nobody would get board from this build. We talked about making a little camper out of it or pull a P/15 p/u box behind it with a camper shell on it. Then we would have a little bit of a P/15 at the BBQ. We should petition Tim to expand and give engine head trophies next year, oil pans the following year, etc. Quote

We have enough cracked flat head 6s and 8s lying around. What a way to recycle them. Cut them in have for the 3 cyl engines. HA HA! Quote
pflaming Posted April 9, 2013 Report Posted April 9, 2013 Had to weigh the truck for a license. The vin plate gives a weight of 4600 #, but the scale showed only 3400#. Someone must have swapped vin plates. So I have a date with the CHP next week. She gave me a one day driving permit for that date. OPS, I thought I was legal, drove to the BBQ illegally! Need another trophy for nest year "the dumb trucker award". I like the trophies and suggest maybe just change the color each year. I suggest each year we take extra pistons to the BBQ so that Tim always has a supply. Quote
Young Ed Posted April 9, 2013 Report Posted April 9, 2013 Paul how is the weight on the serial tag labeled? They usually gave a max weight which is vehicle plus max cargo. Quote
Dave72dt Posted April 9, 2013 Report Posted April 9, 2013 (edited) I think you'll find the tag reads GVW 4600, Gross vehicle weight). That means vehicle and load up to a total of 4600 lbs on the scale. Most 1/2 tons will be licensed in the 4500 # bracket or approximate #s where your state does the #'s break. The licensing fees probably change with different load ratings. WI has license breaks at 4500, next step up is 7000 with increases in fees for every step all the way up throught the semis and trailers. All those test runs were illegal too but you knew that. Parking an unlicensed, unregistered vehicle on any public street here is illegal plus according to village town or city ordinances, if they're uncovered on private property, can be considered "junk" and fined daily. I could be wrong, the tag shows the ball park weight plus the 1/2 ton (1000 lbs)on the tag being the truck is a 1/2 ton. 3400 + 1000 =4400 gvw. 200 lbs difference. Next time don't sit in the truck when its getting weighed. HAHA Edited April 10, 2013 by countrytravler Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted April 9, 2013 Report Posted April 9, 2013 Don't do that for me, I'm a Badger fan. Although they are representing the Big 10, so I suppose it's OK. only difference between a badger and a wolverine is the wolverine takes steroids Quote

I vote that we have this 2 times a year. LETS VOTE! I enjoyed talking with you too. I only wish I had spend a little more time around you and your trucks during the show. Just too much to check out, and too many guys to talk with. A tough problem to have, right? For a Chevy guy from Detroit, you're alright. ... I like the idea of a second one, but I think it should be around here. (more on that soon) Quote
B1B Keven Posted April 9, 2013 Report Posted April 9, 2013 All I can say is 'WOW'!!!!!! It was a genuine pleasure to meet everyone face to face. Well worth the 800 mile drive (one way). Big thanks to Tim for letting us invade the ranch and putting this together. If you can make this event, do it!!!! There's not enough words to convey what's in my head. 1 Quote
buds truck Posted April 10, 2013 Report Posted April 10, 2013 well, we SHOULD have gotten a trophy for the earliest start and getting home the latest..... HAHAHAHHAHAA. We are now in Burns, Oregon and plan on planting ourselves for a couple of days to get relief from the driving. The BBQ was one of the highlights of my life and I would not have missed it for the world. Tim is an amazing host and the trucks were spectacular, not to mention all the great people. Next year I will be back if at all possible. I met some lifelong friends. Merle and Keven, I was honored to get to know you both and Tim, you are amazing. Y'all need to mark your calendars for next April. 2 Quote
pflaming Posted April 10, 2013 Report Posted April 10, 2013 There has been a quest for the passenger side vizor mount. I had one in my truck. Since I didn't have time to fix the visor I clamped a license plate on it with a small vice grip. NO ONE NOTICED!. There was so much to see and so many to meet and learn to know. I showed the group pic to my wife and she will travel up with me next year. I may look for a small RV for two adults and two kids to pull around. Lots of places to go in this valley with the mountains on wone side and the ocean on the other. TIM. How many cattle do you run? I grew up on a wheat / cattle combo farm/ranch in Western Nebr. Quote
buds truck Posted April 10, 2013 Report Posted April 10, 2013 Burns. What happened to Graeagle? Keven, Graeagle and all the surrounding campgrounds were closed. We had a loooooooong drive to find an open RV park that didn't look like they played "Deliverance" banjo music when you drove up....... We found an absolutely great RV park in Standish (we think), called the Days End RV Park. Outstandingly clean and well kept up. Quote

I gotta be there to keep all youns from talkin about me behind my back! 48D aka Tim, Suggest you build a helliport, Lear Jet and all small and large airplane landing strip, Amtrac station, Sun proof Taxi/smoking rest stop, bicycle rack, mini bike re-fueling station, horse tie up rack, tire repair station, blacksmith shop, Pony Express stop, etc. I think you get the idea. 1 Quote

Don Coatney Posted April 12, 2013 Report Posted April 12, 2013 Tim; I do so much want to attend. But from the reports I have read both on line and off line my attendance would have no effect on your excellent hosting abilities. Admit it boy! You win! Your event was bigger than the BIG Race. Best thing to keep this forum on its toes sence the big race. Quote
48Dodger Posted April 12, 2013 Author Report Posted April 12, 2013 I don't know....."The Big Race" was huge. I'm not sure it wasn't the reason Pete sold his ride. You must be quite the opponent. I mean, you tied Pete in the "Parking" "Footing" and "Eating" trails. Very Impressive. Not to mention the controversey of Bob actually winning the race.....I think we all know he was a lapped car. Could be Don, that you need another challenger......someone willing to match those blue shirts and sandals....... Just maybe...... 48D Quote
