TheMoose
Do you have a Clever personalized license tag on your truck or have you found a cool old tag to display? I happen to have 1 of each, The clever one is the actual license plate on my truck but.... I don't know what that one is yet because I sent in 3 choices & since they cashed my check I know one of them was approved. It should be here soon so I can see which one I got. I do have the cool one though, Found a 1953 Oklahoma Farm tag, I cleaned it up, sanded, primed, painted it & put a scuff on the letters but that's where my painting talent runs out so I have someone doing the lettering for me now. Should have it back before too long, it'll look great on my truck. So what do you have? I'm sure with all the work that has gone into these trucks here some of you have personalized plates so show us what ya got!

Scruffy49
My wife used to have "Sucubus" on her Celica tag. Couldn't get the right spelling, too many letters. Sold the car in Washington state when we moved back to TN, the old MS plate is nailed up in the garage from when we lived here before. I can't decide between "Moldpar" or "Oldnslo" for the truck(s). Either fits either truck... Since neither old Dodge is street legal... may just put on Rebel flags and be done with it.

Phil Martin
Don't have a truck anymore but I have a set of Illinois truck plates from 1953. Back then the plates said front and rear. This is an unused set with same numbers but both plates say rear. Obviously a misprint.
John-T-53
A year of make (YOM) license plate always makes an old vehicle look more authentic. After religiously searching, I found matching pairs for both vehicles on ebay. In CA, 1951 plates were used through '55. If your vehicle is '52 thru '55 you need to find the little metal tags to cover up the "51". These can be elusive, especially for '55, because that year they only put 'em on the rear plate. A few years ago, I ditched my 90s vintage plates for a YOM set and it really made a difference! (despite going through hell at the DMV!) TodFitch
1) what is YOM? Just hit me ' date=' I know what YOM mines[/quote']Just to confirm, it is a TLA (three letter acronym) for "Year of Manufacture". 2) is this the same in all states? While many states have some sort of YOM law the vary widely by state. I believe that California was the first state to have a YOM law. And, near as I can tell, it is unique in that YOM plates are for all practical purposes the same as modern vanity plates and have no driving restrictions. Of course the cost for not having restrictions is higher registration fees than if you simply had a modern plate on the car. It seems that in many other states YOM plates are more akin to collector or antique vehicle plates with reduced cost and driving restrictions. And there are states where you need to have some other form of license plate in the car but are allowed to have a vintage tag with numbers unknown to the motor vehicle department mounted on the car. You just need to be able to show the official plates when requested by an traffic officer. So if you are considering putting YOM plates on your car you need to find out what your state laws are. Many states have their motor vehicle codes posted on the Internet nowadays so often that is pretty easy to look up and far more authoritative than the posts on car forums like this. Merle Coggins
Todd, last I heard YOM plates aren't legal here in Wisconsin. Also, their regulations for "Collector" or "Antique" plates requires that you have a regular vehicle registered in you name too. Since my daily driver is a company truck I don't have a primary vehicle in my name. So I went with personalized plated for my truck. I don't know if it fits the Cool or Clever catagories, but here it is.
Todd B
Merle, I would say it fits the clever area. We are planning a Luau in August this year. It would be cool if the center of attention would be a whole bunch of restored Pilot - House trucks. I will post details for anyone in the area in a few weeks. Don Coatney
YOM tags are legal here in Tennessee. And in 1948 they tags were made in the shape of the state.

Todd B
Merle, August 18th. I said something to Mark & Young Ed when I met them. I would like to invite anybody who wants to come. We have a great place to have get togethers and many places to camp on our land (21 acres), there is also hotels 7 miles down the road. Most of the pictures of my semi, bone yard of trucks and camper were taken on our land. Looking forward to get some of us together. I will talk to Nueske's and see if he will bring my old camper over so you guys can look it over in person. Todd B Anybody interested, let me know. Merle Coggins
My calendar has been marked. Get Nueske's to bring over some sausage or a ham, and some kringle, when they bring the truck, and you've really got something. I've seen the truck but I'd love to see it again. I've been kicking myself ever since then that I didn't get any pictures of the inside of the camper. The woodwork is amazing. Dennis_MN
Wow is my August filling up, count me in. The first week I'm driving the Dodge to East Grand Forks for a town 125th reunion, that will be a 700 mile round trip, then over to Wisconsin which should be a 800 mile round trip. Then my wife is having her 50th Wedding Anniv party on the 25th and on the 31st I head up to Rollag, MN for the Steam Threshers Reunion.
