(Respectfully without going on a rant) Is it possible for a moderator to create a forum on the main page for "OT" posts??? It is becoming annoying to navigate through P15-D24 stuff and find things like home improvement questions, other hobbies and off brand vehicle posts. There is a forum for wanted and for sale items also. I am not against those, but they should be filed in their proper place. Pretty soon, we have no P15-D24 forum, geesh. Am I the only one that is a forum topic purist? :)

We have 1 mod around here and he is also the owner, and does this as a 1 man show for some strange reason. A lot of people post parts and what not in the general section as they do not have to wait for the mod to approve the ad. their is a lot of good things that could come of this site if their were more mods, but that is my .02 worth. so sit back and relax, and enjoy what we have!

I do enjoy it, sitting in a comfy chair, and I am relaxed... didn't realize it was run by a one man band.:D

It sure would help him out to have perhaps 3 or 4 more one man bands

This site runs just fine the way it is with one mod.

Yes, we have a few off topic threads, that is easy to ignore,

but if you give a badge and one bullet to 3 or 4 more people on

here alot of threads would get eliminated, for being off topic,

or asked recently before, similar threads, or people starting

threads that do not wish to do a search, etc. If threads, people,

or language are not appropriate, our mod will put the stop on it,

or put someone in the penality box.

I have always thought that one could create their own forum and police it as they see fit..as a general rule the folks pretty much mark things OT in the thread heading...just ignore these if you wish..I do..and any other thread that is not of interest to me..it is so simple to use the "mark forums read" tool..

You have the right idea but....... the traffic is slow on here and to be really honest with yourself, there isn't much "sifting" to be done on here.....some forums like the hamb, your thread would be buried 10 pages down in a coupla hours. If unanswered on here, your thread might take over a week to disappear to the second page.

I like the fact that there are multi threads on OT cars on here but not so much the why are my shingles loose threads.......or the fact that this explaination is being given by one of the biggest Ot posters:eek:

Dang! I just booed myself.:D

If I remember correctly, the very reason people were requested to put OT in their titles was to address your complaint. Seems to me it couldn't be any easier. If you see "OT" and that bothers you, don't read it. Nobody forces anyone to read everything that is posted and the OT heads-up prevents you from having to "wade" through anything you don't want to. I guess I just don't see your point.

You guys think the only thing the big man does here is watch over us, you are way out of it, Just keeping the spammers out is a full time job, and he does a great job of it, their is nothing wrong with having help, i don't think it would mess with it at all.

Thanks Mike.

Plus, have you noticed we are not bombarded by annoying advertisements.......as to help, then it would no longer be GTK's forum, someone else might not share his vision....we don't need that mess.

As for myself I like a little bit of fun and enjoyment from other mopar owners. It kinds of gives a personal touch to our fellow car buddies. I know this forum is for old mopars but what is wrong with a little bit of interjection of interesting stuff or just nonsense. I enjoy reading about other peoples problems and hopping I can have a resolution but if not than its always enjoyable just to know that there are other people out there that like a good joke every once in awhile.

I really like the forum the way it is. There are lots of flathead topic related threads but I also enjoy the other cars that appear as well as the OT stuff. I agree Off Topic should be indicated with the OT so it is easy to avoid if you want to. I personally enjoy most of it. There are some threads I don't read as they don't interest me, mostly on cars that have been rodded, chopped, or bastardized in some other way. No, I am not swearing, just using the word correctly. One moderator is good enough for me as he runs the forum extremely well in my opinion.

...this forum may not be perfect, but it's close.

Things are fine just how they are. I find some of the OT posts

interesting and some of the miscellaneous and humor stuff usually OK.

I agree... It works fine as is.

I don't read every single post; read what interests me. With "OT" in the subject line, I can continue to pick and choose. Have to lean in on the side of, "if it works, don't fix it".

Cheers!

I've gotten used to this forum being kind of like family in that I know you have a lot of knowledge about other topics - and I'm guilty of asking about health insurance and other things - so I figure somebody ot there will know.

It's like if we were all sitting in a room talking about cars, naturally the subjects would change to other things. So I feel - maybe wrongly - that this forum is nice being kind of loose and open about OT stuff.

Sometimes that old saying about "variety" being the "spice of life"

is correct. I like the analogy of everyone sitting around in a room

talking, having a friendly get-together. An assortment of topics can be

discussed.

Thats a very good comparison. When we go to our plymouth club meetings we talk about all sorts of stuff. At the Christmas party I was telling a couple guys about the 6foot tall oak bookshelves I'm making for our living room. The forum is basically an online club so OT away. Besides its winter here and I won't see my collector cars for about 4 months. I need something to pass the time :D

Yes, "variety", is what makes this forum so special. One can notice

about everyday, we discuss many different subjects here, from how to

keep our cars stock, or how to modify to make it safer.

Our local Saturday cruise-ins here are very similar, a variety of subjects,

but mostly car stuff.

Okay, all. Point taken. I did not realize this would draw so much attention. All here are good guys and I too have gleened much info for my P15. From now on, I will ignore OT titles. For most OT questions I have, I just talk to people around me.
