I got a teaser from the chrome shop today! They sent me a few more pictures, but I'm only showing one until its on the truck :P

I bought this piece from Mark over the summer, and it had some dings and dents in it as he can tell you. I cannot believe how nice it looks. I should have the grill next week and I will put it right on.

As far as the rest of the truck goes, I have the bed at a body shop and its getting finished. I hope to have it back in a couple weeks. I took the radio to a guy about 1 hour from me to have it gone through. He really knows his radios. He showed me an 802 he just finished and it looked great. He is addind an AUX port on the radio to use an IPOD with the original radio. I also ordered, modified and installed a speaker in the factory location on the dash that came out nice. I just need to finish the tailgate, the running boards, taillights, and a few other misc. things and I'll be on the road this spring I hope.

looking awesome Joe!  I might have to send parts for chrome to your guy!  The local chromers are a bit "off".  I've had a piece in for 6 months and it's still not done...it's always "ready for final coat"...FML.

Haha that's cool Mark. Joes the first one that I knew was an engineer... Now you're the second lol

Old standing joke in the building business is that you can always pick an engineer out the crowd. He would be the one wearing shoes with velcro instead of strings.

Thanks Bob, its been a long time to get to this point with the grill. The first shop I had it to was a joke and my brother, while on vacation, physically had to go to the shop and retrieve the parts. This place I have it at now is great but expensive.

Paul's Chrome is doing the work. Google them and you will find them. I remember you telling me about you chrome experiences in July when I saw you! Sounds like you need to call Paul's!

I've never heard that one but I'm new in the field. I work as an equipment manager which keeps my hands full of dirt and grease all the time it seems. Kind of like today...I'm wiring a trailer just back from paint, installing new lights and light bases, checking the brakes, adding decals, and more. Some weeks I never get out of our shop and barely make it to my desk. In some ways it is good but in others it is getting old.

I too am a hands on engineer. Did some welding today as well as laminating some plywood in the woodshop.

I got the grill back yesterday and I'm very happy with it. I never thought it would come out as good as it did. It was a pain the butt to put it on, but with some time I got it. Here are some pictures.

Thanks guys! Its been a long way coming....

Truck is looking good, Joe. Will we see it at the WPC meet in Detroit this summer?

I am really trying to get it up there for the meet. I would come up for Friday night or Saturday morning just for the show. I will have to leave Saturday night to get home. I am leaving on a 5 day car tour Sunday morning with my 61 Ford, so its going to be a busy weekend/week.  One way or another I will come for the show hopefully in the truck or the 41 Desoto.

52b3b Joe,

Must have come either as a special order from the original owner, or off a fire truck and mounted by a previous owner. It'd be a first that a PO did something way good like that!

Hank  :)

I'm not sure how my truck ended up with it. When I took it off it appeared to be original to the truck. It was an option on any of the B3's to have a stainless grill I believe. I want to say it was a $10 option. I don't think many farmers or businesses wanted to spend extra money like that for a work truck or wait to order one with it.

I got the bug to get more done on the truck. I HOPEFULLY ordered the rest of the parts to finish it and I received them all today. I bought dynamat sound and heat insulation to line the interior before I put everything in. From what I understand, it is good stuff.

I drove out today and picked up my radio from the guy I had go through it all. I couldn't be any happier. It looks and sounds great. He was even able to add an AUX port for an ipod on the factory AM unit. I'm very excited about it. I also found, modified and installed a speaker in the dash to fit the factory location. Time to blare some music!

Aside from all that, I finished my tailgate. I started it a while ago, but I made time to get it done this week. It came out very nice. I rough cut both side with a cut off wheel. I then trimmed the tailgate and the cut off ends down in the bridgeport and tig weld it all back. The pictures are bad but it came out great. I had to remove the latches, so I ended up pressing new rivets in afterwards also. I just need to grind the welds a little, prime and paint.
