i noticed several threads saying 34 thou, 24 thou 55 thou etc. back in the old days cars didnt pile up mileage like we do now...many cars are found with true low mileage....

WHAT IS THE MILEAGE (TRUE OF COURSE) ON YOUR CAR?

(i must admit i think i have the lowest original mileage car in captivity! ) a 1941 convertible with 14,500) readily documented.

My 48 plymouth went to the junkyard at 76K now has about 88K. Dads 64 plymouth was purchased with 28K and now has about 33K after various trips.

Miss Annie has a hair over 30,000. Fully documented from first day of original ownership. When she was purchased by my grandfather June 17, 2006 she had 28,518.

My 74 Monte Carlo has 67,000 original.

Miss Annie got her name from the original owner. Her name was Annie, and she had the car for about 20 years. She kept the car in the garage covered with sheets so the sun wouldn't fade the paint or interior, and kept every single invoice from PA state inspections and other papers. One of the previous owners before my grandpa(they chatted quite a bit) gave her that name. So, my grandpa, and now me, are keeping it going.

Bill,

When I rebuilt the speedometer head I reset the odometer so I have absolutely no idea what the original milage was, but the car was on its second engine and that one was flat worn out. I would doubt that anyone could guarantee accurate milage unless the car was a barn find or had been it the family since new or close to it.

My P-15, by the way, has right at 10K on the odometer.

All I can tell you is that my odometer reads 35K and some change. I doubt it's the first 35K and in any case, the car was in such bad condition when I got it, it wouldn't have made any difference if there'd been 20 original miles on it. Cracked block, broken crankshaft, floors and rockers completely gone. Among other things.

I must hold the record as mine is way over two hundred thousand miles! They being said that is why when I rebuilt my engine one of the cylinders was elliptic and had a new cylinder installed. Boy was my engine beat! But it was owned by a farmer that probably really new the way to long engine life and that was proper oil and maintains.

Mine had 68K on it when I got it from the original owner in 1970. When I parked it in 1979 it had 72K. (It ran when parked)

Its currently snug in its winter bed with 92.5K. The original owner bought it in December of 46, and drove it till 1969 when cataracts forced his to stop driving. (seems funny these days to think that cataracts were that big of a problem just 30 years ago) He drove it for work purposes as a factory representative for agricultural equipment in central PA.

Seems like my car had sixty some thousand miles on the odometer when I got it.

Have changed the speedo/ hence the odometer over time.

Have seen many cars in junk yards of old, with 40 to 60 or 70,000 miles showing

on them. Low mileage by today's standards, for the age of the car.

My '53 Plymouth has 97,000+ miles on it with only rings being replaced and lapping the valves. Bottom end is original. Still runs great and will be an excellent candidate for a rebuild as it has never been bored or crank turned. Don't know if I will do it or the next owner down the road. I have had the car since 1975 and plan on at least another 20-30 years if the Lord is willing.

15997 on my 48 new yorker!! Original owner died in 49 and his widow simply locked the garage until her children unlocked the garage on her death!

Reading this made me relize that i have never looked at the odo reading!

So after racing out back to have a Bo Peep,my 48 Dodge has nearly

95644 miles on the clock.

The last time of rego was 2005 and from the engine no she could be on her second engine!

From the amount of red dirt ive found when doing repairs, she might have

grown up in the Bush and later moved to the city.

But then again back in 48 there was still plenty of dirt roads around!

The mileage on my Plymouth is 59,851 as of today. When we bought the car in 1988 it had just over 44,000 miles on it. I have no clue if it is 159,851 or not, as there is a 1941 P-11 engine in the car, which was in it when we bought it. Other than replacing the head and head gasket in 1991, I have no idea if the engine has been rebuilt or not before we got the car. The original owners drove the car from 1940 to 1974.

When I purchased my 39 Desoto in 1987 it had around 78k original mileages on the odometer and the engine was a fresh rebuild. It stil has all matching numbers in the car with the trans and rearend. The car now has approx 94K and is still going strong and goes down the road very comfortably at 50-55 MPH.

My grandfather bought the 50 Dodge in the late 1960's for the pricey sum of $50 from a co-worker of my father who needed a battery for his boat..... The car had 26,000 miles on it then. It currently has just shy of 45,000 miles. My grandfather bought/restored/sold many cars over the years including some nice Packards, Studebakers etc. The 50 Dodge was his favorite because it was the most trouble free and most enjoyable for the money. He didn't restore it or show it (it did get a repaint and some chromework around '72), he used it for touring with his car club and we made a trip to the Henry Ford Museum and participated in the "Motor Muster" in 1997. This was the last car my grandfather parted with and I am fortunate to be the recipient of a great surviving "driver".

Gee my 1933 is only showing about 15,000 on the odometer. :)

But it read 60,000 when I bought it so I know it's rolled over at least once because I'm the one that did it.

The engine number matches the build card so the block is original to the car and the engine has not been swapped out. First time I had the engine open I found standard size pistons with the CPDP logo on them. So I don't think it had been rebuilt before and maybe the 60,000 on the odometer was total mileage rather than 160,000 or 260,000. But the condition of the running gear indicated either lots higher mileage or really hard miles.

75,000+ on the 41 coupe when I got it in May of 05. It has about 77,000+ on it now.

There is a fellow here locally trying to sell a P-15 more door with about 12,500 original miles on it.
