  1. That was my 65 Barracuda, I had bought it just before the meet and it wasn't running very well. I wish I had driven the 48 coupe.
  2. Greg, Your car always looks good.
  3. I ran one wire back to the light switch for power and it worked just fine.
  4. Wish I'd seen that years ago when I ended up taking mine to a repair shop.
  5. I used a piece of small brass pipe cut to length and beveled the ends.
  6. Herb Ellinger who wrote the book was one of the teachers for automotive engineering when I went to Western Michigan University.
  7. You need to make some guide bolts for installing the trans. Find two bolts the same thread as the bell housing with the unthreaded portion about 5 inches. Cut off the head and cut a slot in the end. Screw these into the bellhousing top holes then slide the transmission in on them. Use a screwdriver in the slots to remove the guide bolts.
  8. I had good luck with flare fittings at a local AutoZone.
  9. Waldron exhaust in southern Michigan makes pipes to the original patterns. I put their exhausts on both my 48 convertible and 48 coupe.
  10. I used a Steele windshield gasket in my 48 convertible years ago. It fit with no problems.
  11. Years ago I sprayed my 48 Plymouth clock with electronic contact cleaner then oiled it with clock oil. I also soldered a diode across the points to keep them from arcing.
  12. I drove the 48 convertible I had in 1993 from Battle Creek Michigan to Plymouth MA then to Bar Harbor Maine. We drove 65 mph most of the trip. The car ran good at that speed. I also drove that car to Rapid City SD in 2000 and Washington DC. I put 15000 miles on it in 7 years. Then I bought a 48 club coupe that I put an overdrive in. Drove that car to Killington Vermont and to Concord North Carolina. With the overdrive I got 21 mpg and it would drive 70 all day long. JohnS
  13. Have a good trip. I'm glad you're enjoying our state. I always love Mackinac Island. I won't be able to make Detroit I'd like to see the Chrysler Museum. JohnS
  14. I've used 2 Daytona kits. They have a better design float valve that keeps the float level even.
  15. The T10 is a Borg Warner overdrive. I got my rebuild parts from Northwest Transmission. I don't have the address and phone number by the computer but can look it up if needed.
  16. When I rebuilt my R 10 overdrive I got all my parts from Northwest Transmission.
  17. I soldered a diode across the points of my P-15 clock to prevent arcing. It ran well for years and was still running when I sold it. I saw the diode trick in an article in the P-15 Driver newsletter that was available years ago.
  18. Looks like you're in good shape for cruising this summer.
  19. Merry Christmas to all and may you have a Happy New Year!
  20. Is the pressure relief hole in the bottom of the reservoir clear? If that's plugged one or more of the wheel cylinders may not release.
  21. I was working on the brakes on a 1931 Chrysler CM6 last spring. We honed the original master cylinder and put in a kit. We still need to pull the drums to check wheel cylinders and drums.
  22. I always use A Testors paint pen. It's a felt pen with enamel paint in it. They are sold at most hobby stores. Just fill in where you want paint and have a Q-tip or rag with solvent on it to clean up the edges.
  23. The overdrive on the 48 coupe used to give me an average 21.7 mpg.
