  1. Yeah! ? Rob and I are not going to let you over think this. ? use a can like Rob said… will tell you if the pump needs attention or the carb or timing etc. ( the crowd is chanting…… do it, do it, do it ?)
  2. Sweet! You had mentioned using a 12v earlier…. I guess I thought that was what you were doing all along. ? Lol, would you please fire this up! I am on the edge of my seat over here. from what I have seen, the brakes can be your biggest budget item (as it should be) but, for me they have always been after 20 or 30yrs sitting not the 5 or so years this one has been sitting. ( start it up!! ?)
  3. I agree, All three of the videos I have posted on this thread was using a 12v battery, I like to use a 12v to take the possible electric issues out of the equation (why I disconnect the ignition wire from the starter) get it running good off a 12v, then hook up the 6v system on a fresh battery. has worked for me
  4. Lol, yeah I said solenoid but, meant starter switch…. I’ve had a coupe corroded to where nothing would work. Just a thought
  5. I have started a few of the smaller flatheads without the generator and VR being hooked up. I usually disconnect the ignition wire from the starter
  6. Thank you for specifying 1/2 ton ground to the transmission. The B3/ B4 1.5 and 2 ton (and a couple others) ground to the frame with a 12” long cable Right or wrong, I’ve used jumper cable on the starter outside the truck to see if it worked https://youtu.be/59y7tET47zw
  7. Sweet! Sounds like your set. ? just so you don’t think I was trying to mislead you, I was only telling my experience on my B4GA and what the shop manual says http://dodgepilothouseclub.org/know/B4_manual/B4_brakes.pdf I really need to not respond, I just seem to confuse things. keep on truckin ?
  8. i have gone through two of mine not much to them….. sorry I don’t have a service manual for the 47 but, the B series also has an inline check valve along the frame on the passengers side that I’ve also taken apart and cleaned up
  9. The B4GA should be 1-3/8” straight bore front and rear
  10. Yeah that doesn’t sound right… so it doesn’t look like this?
  11. If you don’t make your own, try DCM https://dcmclassics.com/engine-parts/291-e-540-engine-crank-handle.html
  12. Looks like 3/4” round stock with a 5/16” pin almost 2” up from the tapered end
  13. Lol, visual aid https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=rYdgJk645X0
  14. We have all had bad days/weeks/months i like the saying “it’s not the load we are given but, how we carry it” ? myself, I like the PM feature
  15. If you do make two I don’t want to shame Rob any longer ?
  16. If it is the bearing, call DCM and give Steve your generator number he will probably have the bearing. Mine went out in my one ton when I was in Minnesota “back to the 50’s” i blame Minnesota! LOL
  17. Rob, that would sure look good here in the PNW! Don’t you think? After the last couple Fire season years around here, we could have gone around snuffing out some flames..... I think you should consider converting “Big Red”.... think about it, retirement supplement ?
  18. Hey don’t beat yourself up, you weren’t even on this forum a week ago…. Must have joined for a reason ?
  19. yeah, I was surprised also but, Rob helped me figure out the some were not equipped with boosters (as shown in the parts manual) and they (oddly enough) used the 1-1/4 and the different position hole on the brake pedal (shown in Rob’s special book ?) JSD’s booster being under the hood, led me to think there was a possibility someone added the booster and could have altered or exchanged the MC. from his little baggie I’d say it Looks like he is good to go. JSD, if it is “too far gone” they can re-sleeve it. The last one I had done, they didn’t have the 1-1/2” kit….. but your covered there
  20. No, I don’t think it’s undersized. you mentioned rebuilding the MC at some point. It appeared to me you like to do research….. just trying to help. ? if you do have the 1-1/2” MC, might be worth looking for a kit now. 1-1/2” not as common from what I’ve noticed ( of course, that could just be my area also)
