  1. Isn't that backwards? Red 6v green 12v? Not sure what color the military 24vstuff is
  2. Well in order to use that adapter you'll need to leave the water pump. So I would say pull the 2 lower plugs and flush. Then I would pull water pump and dist tube and flush more.
  3. Overdrive is back in, filled with new 90w GL1 from TSC and I just finished my first test drive. We'll soon know how good I did .......
  4. Where is the MN one? Maybe someone local can help.
  5. 49-52 plymouths have a shorter wheelbase for the steel wagon business coupe and fastback models compared to the other models. The transmissions for those short wheel base cars doesn't have a tail shaft like the longer cars. Now why they shortened the trans rather than the driveshaft I don't know....
  6. Ya I remember that. I'm just coming off a major leak repair and if it's not actually fixed I'd hate to leak all the good stuff out.
  7. Napa currently shows out of stock for there gallons of GL1 which show 21.99 for me. So googling I found this stuff. It's advertised for tractor but the specs look right to me. https://www.tractorsupply.com/tsc/product/traveller-ford-tractor-all-mineral-90-transmission-fluid-2-gal
  8. Just for clarity around my other post. I used the jeeps on the front of my 47. W series may be different than B but they seem to fit fine. I also don't have it on the road yet.
  9. Did you contact rock auto on that shock? The few times I've had defective parts they gave me the option of replacement or credit and then told me to keep the defective for 2 wks incase they wanted it back. Never had them request it back.
  10. I would guess if the loud bangs were caused by lack of oil your engine wouldn't run and all and would probably have a new window in the block.
  11. For better or worse the dead is done. Replaced the input retainer gasket and trans to bell gasket. Happened to have bought a trans gasket set off eBay way back and it turned out to have the proper thickness gasket for the input. Luckily I read the manual before just grabbing one and jamming it back together. Per the manual I also filed a slight high spot off the inside the input that leads down to the drain. The homemade trans cradle was working great until I lowered the jack too far and the pressure of the hook of a ratchet strap against the jack popped a weld. Not the easiest too see but the bottom has a clear trail of oil. Trans on the cradle. And the only casualty - my helper misunderstood my directions and shortened my OD cable by what was on the bolt. Hopefully I can remove a little bit of the outer cable and make it still work.
  12. What are you using to move them? A good tight joint should be very hard to move. From your description I'm wondering if the tight one is good and the other side worn
  13. I used the jeep bushings with my dodge U shackles in the rear. In the front I used full jeep assemblies. Reason for mixing and matching in the rear was the jeep ones are shorter. In the front they were only slightly shorter.
  14. They do have seals and those were still present. Unless I can find a readily available replacement planning to reuse them
  15. Well Merle not much oil came out when we drained it. Trans is pulled and it appears the gasket behind the input shaft retainer failed at the bottom. Also the 3 bolts weren't very tight. Looks like new gasket and a new bellhousing to trans gasket and I'll be good.
  16. Leak has gotten worse. Ready to pull this and dig in. From what I can it's leaking down the front and the drips form where the drain is for the front section. I do have the gasket between trans and bellhousing. Beyond that and the gasket for the input shaft what else can leak?
  17. For my 46 1/2 ton there is a readily available 1 piece lower hose to replace the 2 pieces and steel elbow. Might be adaptable to your car
  18. Exactly ebay invested $ into the recent change to save and make $. With them collecting the payment and passing it directly to the seller they can collect their sellers cut instantly rather than monthly and if the seller opts for weekly payouts they get the use of your funds for that week.
  19. Only problem I see with that car is no back seat for the kid to ride in! Otherwise it sounds like a great project.
  20. Oh also for reference I believe it's a 1/2 ton which is model VC. V for sure which means 1940.
  21. The headlights being inboard of the fender peaks is 39-40 only. The 39s weren't sealed beam so that makes it a 40. That grill with the individual Vs is also 40 only.
  22. That is a 1940 and the hood ornament is 1940 only. It's a leaping ram. I think the more common 41-47 ornament fits but isn't correct. I believe it still has the original frame and the bed is probably in pretty decent shape since that front hanger grease fitting still looks centered in the hole. Fyi those under bedside to running board filler is OEM. Tailgate is available repro. Engine and transmission shouldn't be too hard to find. Fair amount of guys with parts trucks or building hotrods.
  23. Probably to save $ by handling the transaction themselves vs PayPal after the were forced to split off PayPal from ebay
  24. Hardboard from the home improvement store works well. If you want it a little more water resistant sheet abs plastic works too.
  25. The Studebaker engine was designed by the same group of engineers. It does look very similar but I don't believe anything interchanges.
