  1. I would call it a plug wire loom. Used on the 39-47 trucks.
  2. 1940 was the first year for sealed beam lights. The 1939 trucks had a reflector with 2 replaceable bulbs. For 1940 the parking lights went on top and Im guessing they were either a stop gap or found inadequate and the cowl lights were built for 41.
  3. Someone did the same on my truck. A couple of hokey screws into the cab and no gaskets.
  4. Same fenders 1/2-1ton. There should be a thick rubber piece that goes between cab and fender. Fender is held by inner fender and then attaching to top of running board
  5. If it helps from the factory the fender wasn't connected to the cab. It's not easy to get in there and grind those rivets off but once you get that far it's no big deal to bolt the running board hanger on. All 4 of mine are bolted on with grade 8s.
  6. I believe the majority of them were spaced with a hold down strip. I have however seen pics of a war time truck believed to be original that had smaller pieces glued together.
  7. You could do the opposite of what I mentioned above and just use 5 wider boards.

  9. With all the possible changes over the years such as tire size you should measure your own. My 46 with tall 16s fit in my garage but at my old house I did have to adjust my garage opened to pull the door a little further up. If the door is close have a helper watch closely as you try it.
  10. No mess as long as you don't tip it over! I would bet many of us have set it off to the side while doing something else only to knock it over.
  11. If you plan to ever met this this truck see rain I wouldn't use the plywood. If you really can't find wide enough boards you could always use narrower boards and add a skid strip or 2.
  12. Before you start cutting do the math on your own. When I did mine using those dimensions I had to cut again. I believe this is because all bed strips aren't created equal. I have Mar-k stainless ones on my truck.
  13. Is the part under the floor shaped like a football? That's the pump for a manual windshield washer as Plymouthy said.
  14. I think it was a tax thing. You paid fees based on what you could haul and then displayed it so they could somehow tell if you were cheating. Not sure how they really knew what the cargo weighed in at
  15. In stock form 40 trucks have very tiny parking lights on the headlight buckets and no cowl lights
  16. Same as my wc. On a 40 you can convert the parking lights to signals but they are so small it'd be hard to make them dual purpose
  17. Maybe the underlying theme then is resolving to staying as healthy as possible. I had the vid right after Thanksgiving. Was no fun but got past it and managed not to share with the rest of the fam

  19. Beyond Mike's you should be able to get a kit from any auto parts store
  20. Ive never tried to crank my 46 but my understanding is the crank is long enough to go through the grill and slip through the gap under the radiator into the special crank nut.
  21. I've seen them both ways too. Personally I'd use the baffle pan after thoroughly cleaning.
  22. Side note I've seen a good tip to sharpie your phone# into the inside of your caps.
  23. I put jc Whitney carpet in my coupe. It was a little trimming to fit but at about 1/4 that price

  25. Not all of those trim rings are created equal. Make sure it's tight to the rim where the hubcaps sit
