  1. Ya the earlier cars didn't have much in the way of names. Deluxe and special deluxe for my 48. Keep referring as you are. It works.
  2. The OEM steering wheel had a disk that pressed into the back of it. If your new wheel is above the factory signals I would think you could have something machined.
  3. You should have metal lines except for a small piece right before the fuel pump to allow for engine movement. I'm surprised your local stores don't stock it. Usually there is a rack of steel and lately they have plastic coated steel or a copper nickel alloy that works really well.
  4. For anyone looking I believe that knob is the same as 53-54 plymouths. Perhaps it got box swapped or they didn't match part # to knob style as they all would fit in the same hole?
  5. Remember his mounts might be cooked from the fire and who knows what shape. Paul have you snuck a peak and either of the drivers side ones to see it's appearance? Any noticable tilt like the drivers side ones are damaged from heat?
  6. Dome light was optional. 1/2 ton would have had 16s probably on 4.5" wide wheels. I'm running 215 85 16s on mine.

  8. No problem. After 47 I believe they use the style you mentioned. The 39-47s are way different than 48 and up.
  9. The W series trucks don't use that type of gasket. The setting tape goes on each side of the glass and then the interior trim holds it against the exterior.

  11. I've worked on a few W series trucks and I've never seen that before. Can't imagine what it would be for either.
  12. Yes as long as both are the same length you should be good to go swapping the blocks. Use your original accessories. Only area you might run into trouble is the temp gauge holes got smaller by the late 50s
  13. I would agree if other upgrades are done to get the system pressurized. My stuff is still stock no pressure so I run the 160s.
  14. That is not a separate piece. They take a beating from the bumper being bolted solid to the frame horns.
  15. Go to Napa and order that thm55. I think thm155 is the 180 version but that's just off the top of my head. Rock auto doesn't show them under 47 truck but 47 dodge car will get you multiple options for 160 and 180
  16. Yes the different marks differentiate the gauge of the wire.

  19. Long process but my tag came today. Looks too good for the truck it's going on!
  20. You ended up on the car side- maybe a mod can move over. But anyway rather than making one like your picture I used an actual 2x4 piece with the ends cut down to a 2x2 to extend into the stake pockets. Should be about 52" overall.
  21. I have one flathead with a broken head bolt. But that also sat outside on the ground long enough that the entire bottom of the oil pan rusted off. So it's just stashed as a builder. My 47 truck engine I broke a water pump bolt off where someone had installed way too long of a bolt. I fought with it for hours with heat and going back and forth and it still broke. A $20 into the pocket of the machine shop owner and he had it out in no time.
  22. Different year trucks but the headliner in my 46 is from quiet ride. I think at least for 39-47s you have to buy them from DCM
  23. Google shows up some garage journal posts stating they were made by new Britain machine and are well made.
  24. Apparently none better was actually the brand and not just the slogan
  25. No markings on the ratchet or any of the pieces? The extension reminds me of SK stuff
