  1. I’m running the same thing on my 52 Coronet. Mine was on a flathead I got that I believe is from a 58 truck. I have the domed one also.
  2. Do you have the semi auto trans? I’d be inclined to put everything back to factory specs. That way you can troubleshoot the problem based on the service manual.
  3. Thanks!
  4. I’m missing the oil retainer on my distributor part number 41-928. Anyone know what this is? Is it a gasket or some sort of seal? I’m not having any luck finding it with any of the usual suppliers. It’s not a major oil leak but it’s annoying. Any help is appreciated.
  5. Welcome! Beautiful car!
  6. No pics but I’m daily driving my Coronet. This is my favorite time of the year for driving. Of course any drive in a vintage Mopar is good.
  7. Got it. Couple seconds with my impact then a breaker bar. The plugs were wrong. I was running non resistor plugs with a .035 gap. Oops. Installed 306’s and it’s good. These flatheads really are forgiving lol.
  8. Here’s a twofer question. First the plugs. I was asked about them in my thread about timing. I’m running Autolite 295’s and they look normal to me with a tan color and no oil. Second is the crank nut. I’m tearing down my spare engine and I can’t break the nut loose. Dumb question but is it left hand thread or am I just really weak?
  9. Good job! Sometimes you just have to keep at it and you figure it out.

    Timing

Can’t remember what plugs I’m running. I’m at work. Thermostat is 180. This only occurs at the same spot on my drive home from work. I’m pulling 3 different hills in succession. Engine temperature is 200 by the last hill and that’s when it pings. Engine was rebuilt about 8000 miles ago and the radiator is aluminum.

    Thanks Rich.

    Timing

Thanks, I’ll check that. It’s a rebuilt vacuum advance. I didn’t think about that affecting the timing. As always your advice is appreciated.

    Timing

My timing is set at TDC per the manual. I occasionally get some pinging on a hill usually when the engine temp is hot (not overheating). I tried setting it with a vacuum gauge but it really pinged. I run 87 octane with ethanol. I’ve rebuilt the carb and fuel pump with ethanol resistant parts. What adjustments need to be made for today’s gas? I’ve lowered the float level already. Thanks
  14. Pertronix isn’t what it used to be. I bought a unit for my Coronet and it failed almost immediately. They refunded my money and recommended I keep a spare module in the car. That was enough for me to stick with points.
  15. Dumb question but did you get the air bled out?
  16. If you haven’t already done so I’d replace all the lines both metal and rubber. Making your own hard lines with nickel copper line is easy and inexpensive. That and a good adjustment will keep you safe.
  17. Make sure all fluids are topped off and enjoy your trip. If you haven’t had any issues with 20W50 before you’ll be fine. I daily drive a 52 Coronet and it’s what they’re made for. Have fun!
  18. The Saratoga is a Windsor chassis with a hemi. Should work just fine.
  19. I ordered some on eBay. I googled the number on the ignition key and was able to find some. Hopefully they’re right and hopefully the locksmith doesn’t make a mistake. Thanks for the help!
  20. Anyone know of any key blank suppliers? I’m having no luck.
  21. Thanks everyone. Lots of great ideas. I think I have a pretty good idea of what to build.
  22. Didn’t score a Sisson choke like Conn47D24 but I did find a master parts book for a good price. I also got to meet Rich Hartung who has been a tremendous help with my Sisson choke problem. It was nice to be able to thank him in person . Turns out my choke is good so the problem may be in the wiring. Saved me from buying yet another choke assembly. Thanks again Rich!
  23. If you figure out how to make the M6 work with the Holley’s let us know.
  24. Always remember that these cars were once daily drivers. If you want to drive 100 miles on the interstate it’s fine. I just did a 320 some mile trip over Labor Day weekend. The original engineering will be just fine.
