  1. Used to have neighbors like that. We are in a small town north of Chicago in a residential area near a school. He used to take his drag car out on the street in front of the school and "test" it for acceleration. Took several calls to the local constabulary but one day he was just a bit to slow in putting the car away. Last time for that. They moved away shortly after and the house has been empty ever since(30 years or so). So no, you are not a grumpy old man. Just one who believes everything has its time and place.
  2. I am not that far from Pontiac, IL. One day I will have to see that.

  7. I thought there were issues with delivery for some members. Do a search and check to be sure.
  8. Regarding tach readings my ancient one uses no outside power connection. Just hook the red lead to either the +or- on the coil depending which ground system you are using and set the scale then connect the black to ground. Ready to go. I have used it on both pos and neg systems with no trouble.
  9. If it runs as good as it looks you have a treasure.
  10. In addition to a good drill set I have discovered the miracle of air drills. Especially after your get started the high speed will really help cut. Of course lubrication is more essential than with a smaller slower drill as heat can really build up.
  11. I was gonna say the lift is missing when you order but as usual I am slow to the punch.
  12. You can have mixed color placed in cans but not cheaply. I remember being quoted $20-25 per can from the local specialty mixer many years ago.
  13. And now we are all Bald.....
  14. I only asked as I have a 1980 Special 6, automatic that I bought with 8400 miles from new in 2007. So my antenna go up when someone mentions one.
  15. Volare Premier?
  16. And take some advice from some who have learned the hard way. If you have to remove the trans for clutch work replace everything related to the clutch. When I was younger I pulled a New Process 4 speed out of a 66 Plymouth because the throw out bearing was making nasty noises. Two months later had to do it again because the rest of the clutch failed.
  17. Not to be a spoiler but I have a puller I got from I want to say JC Whitney that I have used to remove mine several times with no real trouble. I think it cost about $20.00 10 years ago.
  18. Don't forget the pilot bearing in the flywheel.
  19. A big project but if it will save the truck...worth it.
  20. Well this is really a Mopar site but in general do the usual things. Make sure the points are correct, wires clean and tight, rotor and cap not corroded. Try to trace where you last had spark. At the points, from the coil etc. Then you can look further down the line to try and troubleshoot. For example if there is spark coming out of the coil you know the problem is in distribution. Cap, rotor, wires etc. Make sure your grounds are good and the battery fully charged If the wiring is original there could be a broken wire in the harness or in the distributor. Many new offshore made parts are bad from the box as well. I don't know what else you have changed recently if anything. Also lastly make sure you replaced the plugs gapped correctly and also firing order is correct. You might also want to post here: https://forums.aaca.org/?_fromLogin=1 They have make specific forums as well as a lot of smart experienced people as well who might be more familiar with Pontiacs.
  21. As of when I left the POC in 2017 the still were collecting data but that said I never saw any published totals. Supposedly you could get a member roster on disc if you wanted but never saw one of those either.
  22. Although I have not seen any issues with either viper lock or heat soak on my 52 with all stock fuel set up I wonder what if anything might change when I install the Langdon carb setup. 2 bbl is on a adapter that raises the carb a couple of inches it looks like. I have a mechanical pump and no assist from an electric pump.
  23. It’s not just WWII that people don’t know about or remember. It seems like anything that happened before last Tuesday is long gone unless it is what some rap artist wore at a concert five years ago. That they remember
