  1. Looks delicious
  2. Check the wire to the points in the distributor. A break internally may not be visible but can cause this as contact can be intermittent.
  3. LOS if I understand you the person blocked off the line and disabled the brake on that wheel? If so that sounds really dumb. Stopping would be exciting if done in a hurry.
  4. I believe the choke wire on the Factory choke only has power when the starter is engaged. When the wire on my 52 shorted out there was a big cloud of smoke and the motor turned over very slowly.
  5. I an almost 70 and drive the modern cars about 5,000 miles per year and there are two of them. I drive my Plymouths in the summer as much as I can so even with 90,000 on it now my Traverse should, if it holds up like the others, last me for what ever time I have left driving.
  6. Around here north of Chicago from about 8 P.M. on the 4th till 3 A.M it sounded as I might have thought a WWII Battle might have. Non Stop. I went outside and watched for a while. Saw a group of about 8 7 or 8 year olds running in the street setting off large fire works. Bottle rockets, and star shells, plus Roman candles. Worst I have ever been through for non professional stuff.
  7. It is funny that although I truly adore the old Mopars before 1980 or so after that , no. My daily drivers since the early 80's have all been Chevys up to the 2016 Traverse I bought a month or so ago. My last one , a 2001 Astro I had for 18 years and traded it in not because of running issues but it was starting to dissolve. Before that a 77 FWD Suburban, 83 Cavalier station wagon(143,000 miles) an 83 G30 12 passenger van(174,000 miles), 1992 Cavalier(145,000). Good service on each and every one. The Traverse will be my last car I suspect if it lasts like the others.
  8. I had the rear transmission rear seal replaced recently and decided to go with the Redline fluid as a replacement. Haven’t driven it too much as of yet but so far shifting seems much improved. No longer have to shift slowly into second with a pause in neutral. So far so good.
  9. Sounds more like an issue of sediment or a partially blocked radiator to me. Do you have access to a laser thermometer to check the difference from top to bottom on the radiator? I imagine 6 volt electric fans are available but have never seen one used on a stock setup. Maybe a multi blade fan would help if everything else is good. I did a quick search just now and found a company called Speedway that sells a 6 volt electric fan if you do decide to get one. Several listings for multi blades as well. Hope it helps
  10. Not to be any more annoying than usual but why do you need an auxiliary fan? Is the rest of your cooling system up to snuff? I ask because I have driven my 52 in 90+ and stop n go traffic and never had the gauge go over half way. Coolant full, radiator clean inside and out, distribution tube in good shape? These are all things that affect cooling. Just wondering.
  11. I saw this on the AACA site and thought folks here who might not go there would enjoy it. With thanks to them here it is. https://forums.aaca.org/topic/347241-old-plymouth-camping-trip/
  12. I had a good experience with Then and Now. Even took it back to double check after I had a problem and fixed it. Positive reviews are a plus.
  13. I want to grow up to be just like you Grampa
  14. Is it possible that the end of the screw or seat is damaged by someone previously turning the screw to tight into the seat? A damaged seat or screw will let more fuel in and at a certain point you cannot lower the amount by adjusting it. 1 1/2 to 2/12 turns usually is about right.
  15. I second using a vacuum gauge to set the basics. You might try to mist a little carb cleaner or the like around the base of the cab and intake manifold to be sure there isn't a vac leak. A small one can be overcome by strong acceleration. That was one of the issues I had with mine was stumbling on acceleration. I believe mine was worn shafts and dirt in the carb something you have already checked. About the only thing I have ever done to an Idle jet was to remove the screw and spray Carb cleaner into the hole. On the car.
  16. Me Too And as far as Rich's post, I think he has every right to ask what is included in a rebuild. You would expect a professional who advertises as a rebuilder to check, clean and repair or replace any part that is needed and make sure all the adjustments are set to factory specs. If there is a problem the owner should be contacted to let him know. Such as the core is too far gone to save., Then options can be discussed. And if I call or write a supplier or jobber and don't get a timely reply I reassess whether I want to have any dealing with them.

  18. I thought of it more as an information request than searching for or selling parts
  19. Very unlikely unless you want to rework it. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plymouth_Cambridge#/media/File:1951_Plymouth_Cambridge_(29176839133).jpg https://www.vintagecarcollector.com/vehicles/389/1953-plymouth-cranbrook-p-24-series Note the differences
  20. All the builders and owners taste was in their mouth.
  21. Airtex has a good website that has a parts finder. I just made up a pick using a Dodge flathead and they have a pump to fit. I cannot add the link from here but I am sure you can find it on a Google search as I did.
  22. Unavailability of a rebuild is the main reason I went to the Empi 2bbl from Landon. Had to fool with it a bit but driveability now is excellent.
  23. So, how many miles do you have to go to wear out a shaft or mounting hole? Will most of use last long enough and drive long enough to wear out a rebuild or even as I did a new Carb? I suspect not. So is the ability to rebush a carb something to worry about? Seems to me if the carb is that worn after one rebuild it is time to look for another core.
  24. Who's Old? Oh, wait, I am.
