  1. This is just my thought but I expect the tube needs to be long enough to extend down into the airflow beneath the car. That way the passing air will creat a negative pressure at the tip of the tube and cause the crankcase fumes to be drawn out. I don’t think six inches would be long enough if your tube attaches at the same point my 217 does. Although after studying your picture it does not seem to be the same. Mine attaches near the back of the motor on the right side and I have an open vented cap at the oil filler. Still I would think it needs to be in the slipstream unless a pvc system has been installed.
  2. As I had mentioned at the start of this thread I purposely installed the Langhorn kit to improve the drive ability of the car. Manual choke was my choice. Not complaining about it, just commenting regarding what was needed. Ball and Ball carb was shot and beyond another rebuild. I am happy with the choice and kit.
  3. Well as always there is a little kick in the butt on any project just as you think you are done. I installed the heater box a couple of days ago and realized that with the manual choke the size of the box is just large enough to interfere with the cable operation. Most days I drive the car the choke is not essential anyway but I am considering either cutting a notch in the box and then just re-fiberglassing over it or drilling a small hole in the box and pushing the cable through it. Have to see what seems best although any other suggestions happily accepted.
  4. Congratulation on making a safe trip. I have had my 52 for 18 years but would really have to think about a solo trip that far.
  5. One of the members at the AACA forum has this saying”If you’re not going to drive them you might just as well collect clocks”. That describes my attitude completely.
  6. Got everything adjusted finally today and went around the block(about 15 miles, we have big blocks here). Really happy with the results. No more spitting, stumbling, farting anything like that. Smooth clutch engagement, nice drivabilty and smooth running. Only mild complaint is that with the smaller primary you sometimes need to give it a little more pedal to get up to speed at a reasonable rate. As I mentioned there were the usual issues with fitting something like this but all in all not bad. Now to reinstall the heater box and on to the next project.
  7. "some piece of crap chevy truck named Colorado." They had to call it something and Great Wall Wingle 5 was taken. In fact it looks like all the good names are gone. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_pickup_trucks
  8. Nice picture.
  9. I was gonna say just like a real one but....
  10. This probably isn’t the best time to bring up the new Ranco style heater valve that I installed on my 52 Plymouth that was made for a 57 Chevy then?
  11. I bought one from a parts reseller in Pa. about five years ago for $65.00
  12. 18 years ago I took the tank off my 52 because I discovered as they pulled it onto the flatbed for the trip home that it was leaking on the top. I honestly don’t know if there was anyone making new ones then or not. I used the POR coating kit and to this day all seems to be ok. Of course I change the filter regularly and have had occasion to drain the tank a few times since. Never seen much in the way of dirt when I did drain it. Still, if I had to do it again I would definitely install a new one or at minimum have someone like Renu fix it.
  13. I rebuilt mine on my 52 by coating it with fiberglass cloth and after a modest sanding painted it satin black. Although I believe I had more to work with than you do.
  14. I saw something today about the State of Pennsylvania going to court to stop the event
  15. I bought my clutch assembly from Then and Now in Ma. The have a web site and are pretty well known. I got mine about fifteen years ago so I don’t know current prices but I am happy with the results I got.
  16. Most likely by now the Flower Girl has been married 40 years.
  17. Congrats, you got us by 13 years. Happy for you both.
  18. NAPA had a good reliable pump when I need one although that was about 15 years ago. Bought the other parts I needed for cooling system there as well.
  19. I run the radials in my 52 4 door Cranbrook between 33-35 PSI Good ride, steering easy but secure.
  20. Tell us about it. And most of the time it happens when you really need to get going. To the point that if I don’t have time to talk on a errand I take a modern car.
  21. Don’t know if this is applicable but here it is anyway. I just traded off my 2001 Chevy Astro a couple of weeks ago. There is a very active website for Astro/Safari owners that I have belonged to for years. I did as don’tknowitall did. Wrote a post to thank everyone and say goodbye. Got the same reaction as he did but I decided to keep my account and am relatively happy I did. I find myself stopping by on occasion just cause. So don’tknowitall will decide what he wants to do but once you quit the tendency is to not go back because it’s the past.
  22. If I remember right an industrial engine may have a different cam than a road going engine as the purpose is different. Compression ratio, carb. maybe as well. Plus being a Canadian engine it would be 25 inch block. Also could have been rebuilt to road specs I imagine. Neither good nor bad, just different. Nice car.
  23. I can remember as a very young child riding in the front seat of my Dad's 40 Plymouth when the right side door opened on a right turn. I can remember my Dad grabbing me and hold me close to him till he could stop.
