  1. my quiver is empty outside the possibility of a hairline crack....or the absence of the oil well mod above the drain to ensure the bearing drips here to return to the bottom and not run out the cover...
  2. next part.....did you read the cover the case gap without gasket fitted.....then add .005 to that for the proper gasket thickness.....?
  3. ....I know it may be stupid to ask you this but are you sure the gasket on the input shaft cover, the gasket hole is aligned to the hole in the case so it will drain back into the tranny from the front bearing?
  4. one that is not stock...
  5. good you posted the pic...that is a fashioned exhaust
  6. make a template of your flange....go to the big box store and look at gaskets or for faster results often the local muffler shop will be a quick in and out for the gasket....
  7. I understand the man dropping communication.....he wishes to sell you trying to talk him into keeping it. The man may well have long ago realized he would be in over his head and rather than start something he could not complete he wishes to sell it as an assembled unit rather than disassemble like so many that are offered later when the job left to do is more than the will to succeed. Tire kickers get kicked to curb in cases like this, started project often get the same treatment, kicked to the curb....your intentions were meritorious to a degree...just outside his game plan and not what he want to hear and waste of his time.
  8. you have only to understand that the brake light circuit is also the turn signal and the function of the switch is to route the brake light for the direction you are are turning through the flasher switch also connect the brake to the opposite side direct....just follow the wiring instruction.....as ole Balis always told me, point your nose...your butt will follow.
  9. I can see you at the next Romo Motor Fest asking, shall we top off the tank this time sir......
  10. looks like something out of WHO FRAMED ROGER RABBIT.......
  11. Mo sent this pic to me and I think should be displayed here, it is not Mopar but in the DARE TO BE DIFFERENT category and denotes a well built machine. It is street legal per tags and lighting. Not many can boast a Merlin powered beast. I would have loved to hear this sucker running.
  12. Funny I have always heard it as DUCK DUCK GOOSE..... got your hands full with this trio.....the big tooth smile of the Desoto is in high demand and that alone would get you outlay back into your wallet. Hernando will be a good desk ornament/paper weight if you do go part out.
  13. the material is your call....many have reported good results with the metal pot scrubbers both copper and stainless
  14. this material if in place is where it bolts to the block...if you have inspected this area and it is missing....you may have found part of the problem...the engine vents contaminants through the mesh...allow vapors to pass but hold back on liquids.
  15. was the tube removed at one time and the diffusing material maybe removed (filtering material)
  16. click on messages, at bottom click go to inbox....messages will be displayed at top is small box....if you check this it will mark all messages on that page for deletion...confirm the action....this will be done by page...else if you wish to save a message or so....just go down the list and mark each you wish to delete and at bottom will confirm that action....saved messages remain in place and is kept at of new page...
  17. quite the collection of old Mopars.....can't get that many to show up to an event in my area....maybe three or four max and then they be 60/70 muscle cars only. NOTHING in 40/50
  18. I visualized a whole pile of spark plugs laying on the ground beneath the engine compartment........
  19. OMG. Never! Not in my old flathead Mopars. No way will one get a v8 dumped in while under my care. THUS...........the big cheese eating grin at the end.....
  20. actually I think that bunch of letters is the DNA code for covid 19.....?
  21. horsepower always looks good on paper....but its how you put it to the pavement that counts.....!
  22. drop in a hemi and make it home long before you need to turn on the lights......?
  23. your Fletch is showing...!!!
  24. check to ensure the spring on the points is properly affixed so to prevent point float at the higher speeds
  25. you mentioned a lot of things done to improve and or satisfy the cooling requirement of the stock arrangement. Couple items not mentioned in your list, proper fan belt tension, lower radiator hose maybe fitted with an anti collapse spring and lastly to ensure your temp sender and gauge are actually reporting the correct temp. Pretty sure you have the belt adjusted proper but if you have not verified the lower hose condition under speed at temp...pump will suck this closed with some of the modern thinner rubber on today's market without the spring installed. Verification of temp at block and radiator would be good to take to ensure your gauge is reporting correctly. Could be nothing more than bad readings....
