  1. actually, riding to check on a GT6....spied this and took the opportunity for a photo shoot.....
  2. thanks...if they need to copy this....they hurting in the R&D segment of the business and if this will boost them....let them grab the bone and run....just remember, you saw it here first....?
  3. by these assumptions...one would go faster walking if they have a fairly late model car....forget that!!!!!
  4. I will be adding a remote control to this unit when they get them back in stock. Like you, this winch is set up now for easy drop-on use at both my lifts and the dove tail car trailer. The winch itself if not in use is stored out of the way and protected in an easy to carry metal tool box. It is just a simple task to attach it securely at any of the three stations.
  5. good deal.....nothing beats testing each item for sure.....
  6. do not rule out master cylinder internal bypassing which is the key symptom you describe with the light pedal pressure and pedal going to the floor...if you pump and hold really hard pressure here and it stay up...confirmed...!
  7. I had long been putting this off and I am about to move a car onto the lift that is how we say non driveable. I have an open-end alignment lift and as such nothing to connect a winch...so I fabricated this set up today and I am please with the outcome and feel very comfortable with its ability to do the job. The unit is two piece and one section slides into the runway supports and the other then sets over and locks into the first piece and secure with a couple bolts and this will transfer any torque to the runway rolling jack rails. This will make it so very easy to get in-op cars onto the lift. The approach ramps are short and rather steep and the runways being an alignment lift are 9.5 inches off the concrete...pushing on even a small car is killer bee...
  8. you need to have your car to where it will keep up with the traffic you may encounter on the roads you drive else you are a risk to all, if you cannot feel safe with that speed in that car, repair it as needed or park it or flat out burn it to the ground. I love seeing old cars out and about, abhor old cars that can't meet the test of the road or drivers will not drive as the situation demands, if they or their car is not up to perform, you need to stay at home and invest in a trailer. Get real folks...I am not saying don't drive your car, I am only saying don't add to the problems of traffic during peak traffic times and such.
  9. Tailgater and folks on the cell phone.....last week I was sitting behind this guy at a stop sign, blamo he backs right into me....jumps out of the cab still talking on the phone telling the guy he will have to call him back......so distracted driving is by far the worse case scenario. BUT also in the very rural farming area I live one must also watch the other guy as you never know when they going to cut left when you are passing as they never look behind them or signal their intent because in their mind, they still on the tractor in the field. We lost the horse to the tractor for sure, but the blinders were kept and put on the operators.
  10. basically, what is the posted speed limit....most folks stay off the interstates and with that....the posted limits for MOST areas will be fine...
  11. just carry in and place inside the house in every room an item or two designated for the repair of the car.....you will get you motivation...maybe at an octave or two higher than you wish to hear...but the motivation will come....? This is basically how I acquired one of my Sunbeam Tigers, one of them either it goes or I go from the not so silent partner.
  12. this is nothing like a backlighted slide viewer....I still have one of them viewers withing two feet of my left arm as I type this.....
  13. first order of buisness.....get rid of those trunk hinges.....!!!!!!!!!! ? tell me that is not a brand x engine valve cover I see......☹️
  14. Thanks for posting the pictures Rob, this will show what I tried to explain above as written in the repair manual also...
  15. anchor bolt arrows as on the rear these are parallel with the level ground....setting is a no brainer....but per the book and on the front...the shoes are slightly canted....this cant will not allow the greater distance if set as the rear parallel with the ground, these are set in relationship to the heel of the shoe...thus the arrow for greater distance will follow the imaginary line through the cylinder and continue through the anchor bolt following the line of the arrow and greatest distance is the arrow pointing away from the drum.
  16. it is good to have a pooch side kick about the place.....my little guy is a hoot about every day...being a pug they have a million expressions. These guys hve personality where other pets just fail to be able to pony up.
  17. wonder if that tool is in Leno's garage........(I refuse to stand in the corner as I am still on the floor laughing)
  18. yes, the problem of dealing in cyber space.....I had to just a bit ago block a person who was trying to scam me on purchase (cashiers check Zelle, agent to pick up item) when I said cash only as was the local ad, he got snotty and name calling....lol I deal in person and I deal in cash.....no cash, no deals. This typically weeds out a number of tire kickers and most scammers, a best price over the internet...is the asking price as I feel anyone not willing to show to view...is only kicking a tire....sorry if this offends anyone here, not all will fall in this lumped group but enough do that it makes it easier for me work with. And two folks lived withing 5 and 15 minutes of me and said it was too far for them to travel and to send tons of pictures (they need these pics to scam others) Who are these people? I yield the soap box to others at this time....! PS the guy within 5 minutes of me....showed and purchased and turned out to be decent chap. His wife wanted photos....the other guy, all indignant...I have the history of this guy from others in the area, is reported a time wasting flake.
  19. most obvious, no maker shown as stated, intended purpose, seems no one has a clue.....it is a bit of a mystery with no makers mark to lend a hint...on numerous occasions I have search with nothing close being displayed.... I have a memory of something close to this in an old movie where they were doing news paper layout maybe....it is an odd duck.
  20. I have here an item located in cleaning up an old outbuilding long back. I will guess it to be an aid for reading maps....the cylinder is approx 2 1/4 inches long and 1 1/8 diameter, it has a screw on magnifier (black cap) and the bottom of the cylinder has a scale grid that is: .001 Ft. (0-50 scale line) .1 m. m. (0-150 scale line) the items does not have a makers mark of any sort and I do not recall this from my Army training days....never was in boy scouts and not a surveyor and could be in left field for all the above. Multiple searches reveal nothing close online. Thanks.....
  21. I thought you were using the M19 tool for this setup, how in the world did you miss this alignment prior to trying to place the drum in position...?
  22. you in luck, have this one in the shop lying about for easy photographing.
  23. yes for the panhard rod....many of the bigger sisters had this stock...
  24. it was the absence of one in relationship to the effect of the other with the spring.....grab a car with lighter cast drum (front) requiring these springs and remove one and have some fun....older drums have a very thick and often ribbed outer edge of the bell shape of the drum...
